Straight up patchouli is unisex, but it can be worked into either masculine or feminine scents. Add some more woody notes and you have a male fragrance. Add vanilla and florals and you're in lady scent territory.

I fuck with diptyque. I've only worn tam dao, but I smelled the whole line in store and its all so good. So well blended and obviously high quality ingredients. Even the poor performance doesn't bother me, as I like my fragrances to sit close.

Any recommendations on an easy to wear, masculine leaning, and preferable warm weather patch fragrance?

>> No.14007148

>>14007131
Patchouli-centric frags don't really do warm weather very well. The only summer Patch I can think of is AdG Profumo / Profumo Special Blend. Either version makes a decent year round Patchouli-aquatic and both are easy wearing.

Patchouli is probably my favorite note, but it's one that can quickly turn sour on you under certain circumstances. Patchouli dominant frags are a gamble in high heat and you absolutely must bathe before wearing it. Bought Tempo about 2 weeks ago and it's fucking magical. It's such a nice soil-y but pleasant patch with a nice nutty mate note. Sometimes I'll dab a drop
of patchouli oil on my neck and then spray something over it to give it that musky base.

$5 seems low but he's on the right track. and also missing the bigger picture.

to make an analogy: if you calculated the cost of fabric and thread to make a raf simons cotton sweater it wouldn't be more than 1.5 square yards of cotton jersey, $7 at most. yet the sweater probably retails at $700. there are other real costs to consider, the first that people will usually grant is the hourly wage for the person sewing the garment. there's still more though: examples include the designer's salary for their time spent designing, the coster's time projecting the cost of production, shipping, health insurance for these employees, utility bills for these facilities.

after that, what he and most people probably take issue with are intangible and subjective factors inflating the price. one of the larger factors being market forces. instead of thinking you are paying the company for how much it cost them to make the sweater, imagine you are bidding on an auction and prices will make more sense. rich people are willing to pay a higher price than you for the same thing

design is also a commodity in and of itself. lets say you give the same $25 set of essential oils to a complete newbie and an experienced perfumer. they each make a fragrance. even though they cost exactly the same to produce, they will not sell for the same price. the experienced perfumer will make something that has greater demand

>CdG Hinoki
Most real nigga wood frag I've ever smelled. Tam Dao, Wonderwood, Wonderoud, cheap woody frags like Dsquared and Lalique don't even come close. Definitely going to cop, looks like it's not available through discounters.
>Penhaligon Endymion
Extremely soft and subtle, but the scent is 10/10 to me. Can't find the EDP but 50ml of the Edc is $57, already copped cause that's a no-brainer. Like a mature, barbershop version of Gucci Pour Homme 2.
>Philosykos EdT

For what it's worth, I have found the Tam Dao edp and edt to be very similar scent wise - EDP lasting longer and smelling a bit darker, EDT projecting better.
Debatable whether the EDP is worth the extra money, but I plan on replacing my dwindling EDT with the EDP, just to decide definitively.

Most dude who only stick to one good smelling frag don't think too hard about how they smell because they can smell like shit and still get pussy. See, the thing here is that this is all fallacious because your argument hinges on the notion that 100% of people wear niche fragrances are doing so because they’re losers who can’t get laid, and thus buy niche fragrances because they think that will fix their problem.

Most people who wear niche fragrances are aware that they’re not mass appealing, that’s not why they buy them. You’re making an argument that isn’t applicable to the situation. It’d be like making fun of someone who enjoys scuba diving by claiming that everyone who scuba dives is a pencil-necked dork who can’t get laid. This is meaningless to them because that’s not why they’re doing it.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe some people do just fine in the dating/sex department and don’t feel like they need a fragrance to help them get laid? Those people buy fragrances they enjoy because it’s something for them. It’s not necessary for them to wear Sauvage or Eros or whatever, because it doesn’t serve any purpose to them.

Perfume’s purpose is to smell pleasant and attractive to others. It’s not different from women wearing lipstick. Men like red lipsitck nearly 100% of the time and women may wear it for their own ego, but the underlying reason is to signal to men.
But there’s this one woman who owns 100+ sticks of colors almost no one ever sees or finds pleasant and spergs out that all women who wear red lipstick are actually wrong and that her “hobby” of putting on lipstick is the only correct way to do it. fruity lemon water with a bit of tea, and a tiny bit of the smell you get when you open a bottle of fountain pen ink. horrible performance (comparable to 30-40 dollar cheapos), but smells really really good (none of the clones nail the exact smell). if i had a bajillion dollars, i would just buy bottles and bottles of it and spray myself every 4 hours.

It’s the association you have, not the scent itself.

Sauvage never does poorly with women, but something more distinctive will stick with them more.

How you look, act, etc matters more. Scent can just top it off a bit if you’re all good in every other aspect.
