20’s are an ideal time to wear them imo

up until my 20’s I hated the look of them but then it kinda clicked

for some reason they are always treated like dress shoes you can wear with jeans but i dissagree, they look terrible with suits and really dressed up looks.

the shoes that they most commonly resemble off the top of me head would be cowboy boots, engineer boots, wellington boots perhaps equestrian/river boots or jack boots. These are all very utillitarian and would never belong with a suit

chelseas are an extremely comfortable boot that are easy to slip on like a slipper if you just want to put out the trash but look good enough to be worn daily with a variety of outfits. They are clearly far from boring as the reaction to them always proves, leather/suede black/brown are fine just stay away from any browns too light in colour and wear the ones that fit your color palatte i.e don’t wear all black outfit with brown boots

Take everything you hear on /fa/ with a grain of salt as the majority here are underage and it’s all just opinion at the end of the day, there is also nothing wrong with a safe fit if you just want to look good

I'm looking for a black leather chelsea that has a gentle (~45 degree angle) slope when viewed in profile. By contrast, some of the ones I see online have a sharp/steep drop from the ankle section of the boot to the body, meaning the rest of the boot has a flat, horizontal look that I don't find particularly attractive.

Thinking in the region of £100-150.

If i understand what you mean I think I had a similar problem when lookingg for chelseas, I could find dirt cheap plastic ones with the right profile but found the more expensive the more quirky they kept getting

Clarks gobi chelsea became my final choice and I think it has the profile you want. since you’re in the UK you shouln’t have trouble finding a store to actually try them too
