I have one and I rarely use it as I feel a normal toothbrush works better, but it's just my impression.

Do floss though, that's the real game changer for oral hygiene.

All the dentists I've gone to recommended them (without financial interests) and I've almost always used them and never had cavities.
Be aware that you have to use an electric toothbrush in a slightly different way than a normal one.

As others have pointed out, flossing is probably more important. And I have two bonus tips for you:
1) Your saliva needs time to neutralize the acids and bacteria in your mouth after eating. You shouldn't snack all the time, but eat proper meals and then eat nothing for a couple of hours and don't drink sugary drinks, just water.
2) Get chewing gum with Xylitol. It is very good for your teeth.

I've had several brands of regular electric toothbrushes over the years. Recently got a Sonicare. It's far exceeds the clean of any of the others I've used before. It's $$ but you get what you pay for.
Also use a waterpik for total dental hygiene coverage.

I use this stuff to clean my teeth and it's the best my mouth has ever felt. The products you use are more important than your toothbrush as long as you aren't stupid and know how to brush thoroughly.
