The name of this kind of cut is called a Crop/ French Crop/ or a Disconnected Fringe haircut

As a Barber Apprentice I've been seeing this kind of haircut slowly become trendy on barber instagrams lately and have slowly been seeing ppl around my city as well as my barber school wearing it, I was tempted to wear it but I dont want to cut off the length I've grown on the top after I shaved the back and sides that I'd let grow into a Manbun-Undercut-Mullet combination I made which was similar to this pic..

If you have straight hair use a curling iron to get the curlyness if you want this style, it's not that hard

Thanks, anon. I'm sure it'll be trendy, or is already on trend. 90's retro and all, seems like this and other forms of the combed-forward "caesar" haircut of the 90's will be coming back into popularity.

Cillian Murphy who's on the bottom right is in his late 30s/40s and he looks fine with it, and its sortve an old 1920s traditional mens cut that's timeless
And how bald are you? And where exactly on top?

And if you really like it it doesnt matter what I say or think or anyone else, if you like it try it out and see if you dig it, it honestly doesnt really matter what anyone but you thinks of it anyway, I wear weird hairstyles and beard styles all the time because I get bored and partly because I dont want to look like another cookie cutter guy with a generic haircut and generic facial hair or shave, for the past half yr I've been wearing a forked beard/ handle bar mustache/ and now muttonchops because I figured fuck it, I want something different that you dont always see everyday, some ppl dig it and others think it's weird but I like it and that's really the only thing that matters and I guess vaguely questioning if anyone you see is real or just in your version of reality helps not care as much..

great point about owning your style.

Yeah, I'm not totally bald but close up on my crown. The rest of my hair is still there, but has become thinner overall for the last few years. I have a "swoop" curl at the front / center of my hairline. Great for pompodorish cuts or poofy swept back dad cuts, but not sure if it'll look good with french crop. I did have a caesar cut back in the late 90's, I remember this curl of my hair being a minor challenge, but I can probably make it work with some product. I have a young face so this cut won't exactly make me look more mature, but I do think it's flattering.

My main point of concern is hair sticking up around my balding area, since it's my cowlick zone and harder to control. Assuming I get that handled, I'm hoping this'll work. I like the idea of being slightly ahead of trend, since I'm more artsy than lumberjack if ya get me.

Dont worry so much about it
Your cowlick will make it your own, and there are many variations of a style just like there are tons of variations of the undercut

And if you're balding that's fine just own it and make it part of the look, if you want to. I saw a hairstyle like Armstrongs from Full Metal Alchemist while i was playing Mount & Blade Warband and thought itd be neat to have a weird ass hairstyle like that one of these days
It reminds me of olde Strongmen of the day.

Please don't let it become popular.

Balding here who has had this style for a while. I've really perfected it though. You definitely need some product in and for it to be a bit messy or your risk the goofy bowl cut look.

Almost all the photos of this haircut if you notice are taken from the side and there are very few face on looking directly at the camera which really shows you how it looks.

Angles like this:

>>13955715

Can look radically different from the front so be careful of that. Also most of these guys are on the better looking side. While I am balding I am athletic and somewhat attractive. A fat ugly guy would never pull it off.

Not bad. Close to bow-cut. Needs again more length or volume at the front.

That's the difference between a French crop and a fringe
Fringes are more piecey
Crops are more bowl cuttish

Then you get cropped fringes that are a mix of the two, and have blended and disconnected version just like you'd have with undercuts.

The fu manchu?

You just use a hair straightener or use the heat of a curling iron to flatten it and straighten the hair, I used to do it to my lumberjack beard and it made it straighter and more angular and less curly

It wont work if it's too thick and too short, which is why running a curling iron along it slowly might help straighten it as it did for me

>Every haircut looks better from the side angle. Undercuts look incredibly dorky with thick hair from the front.

Yeah but most people will be seeing you from the front which is why these styles need pictures taken from the front as you really won't know what they look like.

I have thick hair and from the front I looked like a total dork yes, so put on wax to really thin my hair out and it looks so much better.

>> No.13958096

>>13958079
What's a haircut you think looks good from the front? I still support short sides because volume on the sides makes your hair poof out which creates this helmet aesthetic from the front. I really don't like most undercuts from the front because any volume makes your head look lopsided, while something like a french crop would keep it symmetrical. Admittedly I haven't tried that haircut yet since I changed towns and nobody can cut fucking hair in flyovers.
