Do black shoes work with near black pants or do I have to really match the colours?

Pic related, thinking of copping

That's some garbage advice right there.

Black is normally too formal to wear casually, you WILL come off as an edgy emo if you try to pull this off.

Grab some tan shoes/boots if you want to pair with black.

I think that would look pretty good, but usually you'd want to stay with a black/white sort of colorblocking and maybe incorporate other colors into your accesories

Lol, I don’t look emo-ish. I’m always wearing my basic black old school vans, black jeans with rolled up pantlegs (I do it only because i’m a manlet and pants are always to long for me), funny socks (preferably dark toned red-ish), and rather plain coloured t-shirts, or blue shirts with sleeves rolled up on my forearms. It seriously doesn’t look bad. Also I got black artificial material hansen boots which go pretty well with skinny plain black pants, a black hoodie, a black plastic-tier/northface tier jacket and it looks good. I mean the blacks musn’t have a blueish/purpleish flabour in them otherwise it looks bad, but besides that it seriously looks good. Just because it’s not a fucking dandy looking outfit doesnt mean that it looks like shit or an emo

Match black trousers with charcoal or white footwear. Alternatively, your footwear could be a loud colour with black laces. Honestly, it is way easier to match footwear to dark wash indigo if you're going with denim trousers anyway. Especially footwear in brown, white, black, charcoal, dual or tri colour. What can't be matched to dark wash.
