Brutalism is degenerate. Here is how art works: First we have some basic fundamental sense of aesthetic in how see the world, so for example symmetry and cleanliness is appealing to us — then the rest is actually just associations of values we communicate.

What does brutalism communicate? It communicates poverty, slums, despair, oppression. All states we evaluate as undesirable. It is Bauhaus architecture for bydlos. If you celebrate brutalism, you are either completely out of touch with the world, an edgy teen or a simple cretin.

Brutalism is depressing look no further than Government Center in Boston for proof. It's a soul crushing concrete and brick wasteland that depresses me every time I am forced to walk through its brick mono colored courtyard.

Upkeep on concrete structures is expensive though. Without rebar the concrete will deteriorate, yet with rebar the rust will eat the concrete from the inside. Not to mention heating and cooling concrete during winter and summer will cost an arm and a leg because it is a poor insulator.
Brutalism is interesting but terribly impractical.

Brutalism is actually scientifically proven to have a depressing effect compared to living in timber buildings, bad for the environment as already posted, difficult to heat/cool as already posted, difficult to maintain, synonymous with oppressive historical regimes, and most importantly, looks ugly as all hell to almost everyone except a very small subset of retards who continue to post the unfashionable garbage in a board about fashion, because of haha le slav xD memes.
The only thing going for it is that it's cheap. In every single other area you would want out of a building, it's a clear downgrade.

Read a few history books and study a bit more architectural design. This post smells like you don't really understand what makes good architecture good. Any given "style" has good and bad buildings, but the effect that a building has is dependent upon the individual building, and energy efficiency has to do with a lot more than concrete construction.

tl;dr brutalism can be good and is a neat style. It is becoming overplayed, but it is people like you that have caused it to die and only now be rediscovered. We might be living in a much more architecturally interesting world right now if we allowed brutalism to play itself out and skip this whole revivalist movement.
