I have the Savotta 202. Pros: It's perfect for shopping because it's very tough and can carry very heavy loads and fits all my weekly shopping in perfectly. Cons: it's literally an obsolete design only with modern materials, the straps and back have zero padding and the strap adjustment is really awkward, I had to make a back support out of a piece of cardboard. It's basically an anniversary edition throwback to Savotta's original design that really made the company. The entire construction is 1000D cordura with a PU lining making it almost totally waterproof - it'll certainly keep any electronics and paperwork dry unless you actually dunk the bag underwater, but it's lack of dividers and pockets inside means that everything inside is loose. It's good if you get it as a gift but for 50 Euroubles there is a lot better out there, and it's certainly not a daily backpack, unless you are shopping. It even falls short of its intended purpose as a daypack for hiking. In summary it was a fantastic piece of kit in the 1950s and '60s but not anymore, and you'll look like a bit of a tool with a bag made out of military materials in an obsolete civilian style. If you are set on the 202 then I say check out the 212 designed by Harri Koskinen.

I use this Victorinox backpack I bought for £10 off Facebook Marketplace. It's waterproof, adjustable, very comfortable, comes in a small range of colours (mine is navy and slate grey), it's got very well designed pockets and dividers inside, and can fit a laptop easily. Total volume is 7 litres and has slots for water bottles under the storm flap, plus there is a zipper on the side which undoes the bellows and roughly doubles the size of the main compartment, up to 15 litres. Things I have fit in this bag concurrently: 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of pants, travelling washkit including deodourant, jeans, brogues, notebook, camera, towel, A5 sized book, two pens, a multitool, a long sleeved henley shirt, and a pair of gloves. I use it daily and when travelling (for work, not fucking about Indochina getting high on beaches), and honestly it's worth getting it at any price.

I'm moving to southern Spain next month where the Moroccans literally take day trips over to steal from tourists. I need a messenger bag so that I can quickly hold on to it at any given time, whereas with a backpack any thief could be at it sitting on my back. I plan on travelling so something roomy would be a plus. Any recommendations?
