because they can't afford to wear saint laurent on a daily basis.

so what they do instead is buy one signiture piece from the brand, used on sale or save up

then wear everything else low end and wear the one recognizable item to make it seem like they're draped in designer clothes when in reality they just have that 1 pair of SLP boots and maybe like 10 items of clothing that they keep pristine because they need to sell it in the fuuture because they used their money from college on it

He's not wrong in this case. People shouldn't buy clothing that they can't afford to ruin and expect to have a workable wardrobe. Online fashion communities convince newbies that in order to be fashionable you MUST buy high end.
