I did a little of research and ordered an Eastern clone of TFTL by Suratti. Any experiences with their pure perfume oils? So, no sex today. Went over to De Bijenkorf, had a very nice (and very cute) young Dutch salelady help me out. Very knowledgeable girl. I tried a bunch of the Roja frags, Nuwa, the whole Gulf line, the new Enigma Aoud (which is technically for women, but she suggested I try it anyway).

Enigma Aoud is actually very nice. You get Enigma for Her, which has shades of Enigma Man with some added white florals and much lighter, with sone light Oud. I was impressed by it.

She also directed me to the YSL niche line, De Bijenkorf is the only place in the city that has them and I figured I’d try them while I was there. I loved Tuxedo. It’s a nice, sweet patchouli and spice scent, smooth as silk. I very likely will go back and cop a bottle later. Really wasn’t expecting much from YSL, but this stuff was really, really nice.

Wound up copping a bottle of Tam Dao EDP as well, has been on my buy list for a while.

Well, I wouldn’t say paying for sex automatically makes someone a loser. Context is important. Putting aside all the celebrities, politicians, and business moguls (hell, Trump does it) who’ve been caught in prostitution scandals, the demographic of people who see sex workers regularly are statistically middle aged, wealthy, married men. It is a multi-billion dollar industry, that’s not all coming from NEETs spending their Tendie money. Besides, you still have to be able to talk to women without dropping spaghetti to see a hooker. I don’t HAVE to pay for sex, I’ve been in long term relationships, I date, it’s really just something I do for fun sometimes when I travel. I’m not an ultraChad or anything, just a normal guy really. I just personally don’t see going to a sex worker as any different than going to a nice restaurant for a meal. Also, especially here, it’s a pretty normal thing to do. I dont love a lot of vetiver fragrances because they develop into something weird on my skin. I do however really enjoy TF Grey Vetiver and Phaedon Black Vetiver (which is a play on the TF). These stay smooth and clean, unlike Guerlain, TdH, and some others I have tried.

It would be considered a daytime spring/summer fragrance but is good anytime imo.
Also Dior Homme Sport 2012 is stellar and has a very natural citrus. I haven't smelled the current formulation but I imagine the quality of citrus is the same just lacking the iris.
Other cheaper lemon options your might want to to look into are L'Eau d'Issey or Versace Pour Homme but they are not as natural smelling.

Wonderwood is my other main fragrance actually, I love them both. They are compared often but I find them quite different.

Wonderwood is green and spicy to my nose - noticeable cypress and pepper. Tam dao is dry and rounded. If WW is a tree that was just cut down, TD is the hewn and dried lumber.

For me, WW feels masculine and cologne-like, if that makes sense. Whereas Tam Dao is a comforting personal scent. Both draw compliments.

The EdT is really nice. A quick read shows me the EdP is more vetiver-forward (and I've read most of Diptyque's EdPs are stronger but I've only tried one).

The EdT is a straight gender bender, it's not smokey strong vetiver (like Encre Noire) but more fresh/fruity/floral with a touch of vetiver. Kind of like an apricot/floral rose/vetiver combo. My SO smelt it on me and said it smells like one of her fragrances (which is true). Overall it's really well done, just doesn't last long and I'm not sure it's really for me. Zara fragrances are no slouches tho. People only shit on them because they're low-priced, but that doesn't mean they're low-quality. I own Vibrant Leather EDP, Intense from the tobacco line, and 9.0, and I think they're great, well above average even. Wear what you like. If you like Zara, wear Zara. Don't think you need to drop serious coin just because you think it'll buy you something you may like more. You may, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying what you already like. Also, just know there are TONS of expensive niche fragrances that are absolute fucking garbage.

when i tried it it just smelled like fog of some common ingredient in all popular mens fragrance. like if there was a generic "fragrance" smell that you pick up just walking into fragrance area of your local macys or the sephora at the mall, this is it. i got a little bit of pepper but beyond that not much.

I’m a collector, it’s a hobby to me and I mostly wear niche frags. That said, there are some fantastic cheap fragrances. I use Eros as a sleeping scent because it’s comfy as fuck. Have a few of those Cuba scents I use around the house sometime too. I also own multiple Roja, Clive Christian, Creed, Amouage, etc.

Anyone who shits on cheap scents for no reason other than them being cheap is a fucking fool. I like niche fragrances because I find them more interesting and unorthodox. Doesn’t mean just generic, nice smelling scents aren’t good too.

bad idea. people are picky about fragrance and clothes. even if you have a general idea its easy to get it wrong. the worst part is a bottle will last years, you are basically obliging them to hang on to it out of politeness. better to get six or seven samples and a gift card. even if they dont end up liking any of the samples they can get something they like or explore on their own with the gift card if they want

Note that this fragrance does really good job at portraying dark mysterious masculine super longevity fragrance with style that is different to the masses. There are also a lot of 80s powerhouses that smell manly but no crowd want.

But Sauvage manages to portray masculinity while also loved by ladies by the same time, that is the greatness of Dior Sauvage.
