I want to cop this jacket but I don't know which color to choose between the black and dark brown. I have two concerns

1. I'm trying to build a new wardrobe that's as versatile as possible, but I haven't developed a style yet because I don't know what looks good on me. I want to pick the safest color that would go with the most clothing.

2. I don't know how to dress for my skin tone. I'm worried that the dark brown could clash with my brown skin.

The bottom two pics are me trying on a different Carhartt jacket in the dark brown color so you can see how the color looks on me. The jacket i'm ordering is not the same one.

Bro. I'm telling you now. That jacket is the least of your worries. Don't dress up in brands that don't flatter anyone ie Carhartt construction shit. Your pants. Your uniform plaid shirt.
And even before that, your haircut and your facial hair...
Your concerns are very troublesome. Good luck.

>> No.13798864

>>13798747
Hey man, I really appreciate your reply. You're right, my sense of style is shit. I've know this for a long time and I've actually browsed /fa/ off and on since 2011. I've made it a priority to address it before, but I have a lot of issues with depression, anxiety, and shame (I was raised in a very abusive environment) and those have always halted my progress whenever I tried to develop a style and a wardrobe.

I've worked through a lot of those mental issues (although they are still there) and I've made a lot of progress. I've lost 70lbs and am still losing weight. I'm doing research and planning for my future wardrobe while looking up staples to get me by while I lose weight/add muscle. I'm rocking the buzz cut but I've procrastinated going to the barber, and I'm current taking pictures of different facial hair styles to see which one is most flattering on me.

I'm getting the Carhartt jacket for a purely utilitarian reason. Even if it isn't effay I'm buying one anyway to have a jacket that will keep me warm, that will last my entire life, and that I can get dirty.

It's always good to plan ahead.
I honestly have no opinion on the jacket as I just stumbled into this thread at random.
How's your shoe game going?
That's something that can be planned well ahead as you continue to lose weight/change shape.
Buy 2 decent pairs now, wear them in and you'll have a nicely worn in, nicely patina'd pair of decent "lifetime" shoes/boots for when you reach what you consider your optimum.
(it's what I did since I didn't want to keep buying different sized clothes or shit that was too big that had to be further tailored down if possible)

Ah, the legendary soft boy backpack.

Ok, here's the thing. I've found it before on a site called Alibaba, but I checked the archive and the link is now dead. It is definitely a backpack you can get from Chinese shopping sites. If you want the exact one, what you can do is take pic related and try the reverse search through the Taobao app (most Alibaba sellers source their shit from Taobao). Warning, if you order from Taobao you'll need a shopping agent.

It's just a rucksack tho, so you can prob find similar through Google if that ends up not working out.

Hey ive been wearing april 77 jeans for the last few years and really enjoy them, but my current black pair are starting to get a hole in the knees. I would like to try something else for a change but being a skeleton most of the other brands dont fit nearly as well, for example being skinny as fuck but at the same time not just completely giving my balls a wedgie. More or less I really like the style but would also like jeans that have a bit higher quality denim, I have no problem spending like 100 to 150 bucks but really don't know what other brands do this fit. I've tried on SLP jeans and those were truly GOAT but I cant reasonably spend that much. APC and Acne also tend to fit quite loose is comparison, any recommendations? One thing I dont need that April 77 has is the really tight seat which im not really set on but I don't hate either.

Nice dubs.

They're plain black pants, anon. They will go with anything and pretty much most colors. I would stick with colors found in nature (pic related). For tops, try a knit crewneck sweater or button down shirt. For shoes, try black or brown boots (check out the boot thread for suggestions). For outerwear, get yoself a parka. Military surplus has this shit for cheap and quality is alright.

Sweet thanks! I'm heading up north for a business trip and might hit this store up:

https://www.armyandoutdoors.co.nz/search?q=parka&type=product

Any of those look good to you?

And for shirts, what materials would be good?

>> No.13818583

>>13818333
Well taste is subjective, but I like the Czech M85 and the German Olive Drab. Seems like they got good reviews on that site too. Since you're going to the store though, make sure you try shit on and see if you like it on you. Also consider what you'll wear them with before you actually buy. Have some outfits in mind. That way, you don't waste your money on a piece that just hangs in your closet.

As for shirt materials, it really depends on what properties you are looking for. For me, I generally stick to cotton for its breathable nature, comfort, and it best suits my wardrobe. Linen is also nice and very lightweight, but wrinkles like a bitch and best suited to summer. Wool is nice and warm, but cheap wool can be itchy. You can condition it though.

If you're looking to buy one, perhaps these resources may be relevant:

https://propercloth.com/reference/dress-shirt-fabrics/

I'm thinking of trying a louder statement suit this year for my staff Christmas party. In past years, I've usually opted for a black suit with a floral shirt and no tie, or a black suit over a turtleneck sweater.

This year, I want to try something bolder, like either a patterned suit or a coloured suit. Anybody have any suggestions for suit colours or patterns? I feel like a coloured suit could be a risky move and could just make me look ridiculous, but I also want to stand out by not playing it too safe. Don't know if I'd want neutral colours, like burgundies or forest greens, or if I'd want to do something crazier, like pastel colours.

I feel like a way to play it a bit safer is to stick to blacks/greys/whites, but do a patterned suit, like polka-dots or something. Or I could go all out and do some blue paisley suit.

Inspo welcome.

how do I get over my anxiety about going to a fancy barber? I've never had a nice haircut before. There is a fancy-ish barbershop on my walk home from Uni and I always tell myself I'll just go in there and ask for a recommendation on what to get but every day I pussy out. Is it weird to have no idea what kind of hairstyle u want and just want to look good and ask them for a recommendation like that??

This is good advice. You can even play it off smooth. Sometimes when my barber asks what I'm feeling or what I want, I just say something like "You're the expert, I trust you" and straight up I have never been disappointed. If you aren't going for something specific, it'll be fine. If you want something a little trendy, just say it. Easy. No fuck ups.

copped a Austrian milsurp winter hat real cheap, pic related

I'm mixed asian so facial hair is nowhere as chad as the guy in pic related but I'm trying it anyway. Here's my first outfit I'm gonna try when I get it in the mail:
worn black canvas shoes, olive cargo pants, red v-neck shirt, tan quilted jacket, gold aviator sunglasses, and this milsurp hat.

I'm iffy on the red but I want some color somewhere. Thoughts?

depends. If you're between two sizes, go with the larger size, but that's not what you asked.
Going a size up will mean they'll be less fitted to you, ie baggy. Not a bad thing but depends on what you're after.
If everything you're wearing is a size bigger, then yeah I think that's silly. If you layer a bigger shirt over a well fitting one but under an un-buttoned jacket with fitted pants, I think that's pretty kino

Solution is to never use antiperspirant and only use deodorant. You might sweat a bit more at first but after a couple days your sweat glands will adjust and you won't sweat as much. Aluminium in antiperspirants fucks around with your body and causes you to produce more sweat.

I bought a czech m85 a while ago, it’s great because it has an elastic waist and that fly collar, you can also remove the hood/liner if you want, in the pictures it looks crumpled but mine never seems to get that scruffy look.

If the collar was stood up like it should be you’d see that it has rank slides on the shoulders which I didn’t like. It’s also piss poor in the rain. It’s designed to be used with many under layers so it’s significantly oversized, you’re going to want to wear at least one layer beneath it because otherwise it’ll rub your skin raw especially when wet.

I altered mine and love it now but there is a reason they sell them so cheap

This shit is way too big on me and makes me look prego. The shoulder fit but i’d have to do an unecessary amount of tailoring to get the rest to fit.
