>"I always looked at Polo items like...the shirt looks dope, but I'm always afraid of it getting messed up. The Snow Beach was different. It was rugged. You can be outdoors with it, running around doing graffiti and catching tags and it's not going to get fucked up.”

What did Post VSOP mean by this? What part of the Snow Beach jacket attributes to the "rugged" urban look? And how can I find more examples?

You got a bunch of blue collar inner city dudes wearing high end sports gear, the kind of shit people wear to country clubs
In England there was a trend where kids from the slums would wear tuxedos and high polished patent leather shoes as a big fuck you to rich people
And, of course, there's England's equivalent to lo lifes: casual culture
Where, instead of dressing like right wing skinheads, soccer hooligans would steal high end sports gear (stone island, le coq sportif, lacoste, lyle and scott) and wear it to so cops wouldn't think they were thugs when in fact they were pretty wild

>> No.13749063

>>13749038
yeah, I get what you mean with the counterculture aspect and that definitely did and does happen with Tommy, LV, Ralph Lauren, etc. but as said in the OP quote these aren't regular Polo jockey shirts or golfing attire. There's something about these specific items that makes it look more urban and durable. Wait, I have a Tommy jacket that might apply.

Tommy is the product of a viral marketing campaign
The company ripped off Polo's style then gave away free clothes in the hood to gain popularity

yeah, Tommy always felt similar to Polo to me but I also remember reading that Tommy used to work for RL or something. Did they actually give away free clothes though?

are you retarded
by rugged he meant it was built to be worn outdoors and could handle him jumping over fences whereas a ralph lauren polo shirt is too 'high class' and 'fancy for him to be doing graffiti in as he was worried about ruining it

Is Ralph Lauren beyond saving? I got a solid sweater from them last year but it has nothing to indicate it's from there. I'm talking specifically about the clothing that boasts the RL logo.
