Techwear/cyberpunk/hacker/lunar/chill/minimalism etc aesthetics are really boring in the current year. Time for something unique, so I think ultra-modern (or even futuristic) medieval inspired fashion could be big trend in the near decades. I mean libs already hate it: http://subpixel.space/entries/haute-baroque-capitalism/

Trouble with this is the void it leaves.
Feudal and otherwise pre-modern society had belief and meaning behind their gaudy nonsense. Many Churches were labours of faith, not expressions of capitalist zeal for it's own sake. Structures, clothing and personal affects were to be heirlooms, carried into the future. As much as some people want to LARP as traditionalists, Pandora's cash till was opened quite a while ago.

This isn't white supremacist. Hell, post Chinese feudal, Hanfu-movement stuff if you want. Or modernized Hanbok. It's all cool.
No-one here is larping. It's called aesthetics. Sometimes reaching into the past provides for interesting inspiration. Take a look at that pic of Kanye as a Houscarl further up. He's black. And the Saxon look on him looks fucking cool.

That's a good point, but in the era of postmodernism that aspect is lost to many on the left, even as postmodern thinking and visual design becomes itself boring and outmoded.

My view is that it could be more of an outrageous expression of sincerity--appreciation for the traditional and tangible. In the broad sense it's a rejection of the abstract in favor of the concrete.

People are correlating Trump's success with a rejection of "morality" in art and fashion and it's hilarious.

The rejection of "normal" methods of beauty in favor of something traditionalist to an intimidating and ornate degree.

It's not even just a matter of left or right, it's a matter of that Pandora's box I mentioned.
Do we go big and gaudy, in admiration of that which is tangible or that which is traditional?
Traditionally, we are supposed to celebrate the farmer, the priest, and the king, and reject the merchant, the money-lender, and the hawker.
I say this not from some pseudo-/pol/ anti-semitism shit, but rather from historical fact. Even Chinese Confucian society treated the merchants and investors as the lowest part of society, because they "created nothing". Much of the hatred for Jews in the west was the same. Traditional society celebrates those who create with their hands, or those who lead intellectually and spiritually.
Right or left, we have all decided to elevate the merchant in the current era. I would argue that to be sincere, appreciation for that which is tangible and traditional focus on those things which are made by hand, for love of the art, technique or subject rather than for the purpose of brand or expression of raw wealth. Somewhat similar to what you propose, but more radical. This would be a true rejection of post-modernism.

>> No.13736806

>>13736785
I mean hell, you could do that right here. Design some future-traditionalist styles on this board, create and critique pieces, and develop the aesthetic into something for it's own sake, with pieces made for it's own appreciation.

>> No.13736812

>>13736785
>I would argue that to be sincere, appreciation for that which is tangible and traditional focus on those things which are made by hand, for love of the art, technique or subject rather than for the purpose of brand or expression of raw wealth.

Come to think of it, hasn't that way of thinking been more prevalent over the past couple decades? There's a proliferation of small, niche businesses and people are able to more freely distribute handmade goods over the internet without any middlemen.

Or does the greater ability for such distribution undermine the notion of traditionalism, since now just about anyone can join the "merchant class" with the world as their buyer?

I use Comiket as an example of traditionalist distribution.
It's an event where people are making and distributing art for the love of the topic and art, and don't really expect to make much money off of it, if any at all. There's also no social or political goal associated with it typically (so as to contrast with low-value modern art), just adoration for the subject matter.
If we are to make these kinds of pieces, we would need to disregard profit in favour of celebrating the subject at hand.
