13713709 No.13713709[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

After seeing this darn thing posted so many times, we went and dug up the original manufacturer in Germany.

Around six months ago I saw pic related for the billionth time and finally got off my ass and looking.

The TL;DR is that we got lucky. The EU forced all of Germany's police to change from forest green to dark blue---we found the meme bomber right before the manufacturer chucked out the tooling for making it.

So this is your fair warning, you'll be able to get one for about two weeks and then they'll be back to unobtanium.

>>13713780
Yes you're correct. We're running a two week pre-order and then sending everything off to the manufacturer.

This is a necessity since they have to order and dye the fabric, set up the production line and all the rest from scratch. The bombers have not been a "stock" item for close to 10 years now, and it's been about 5 since any fabric mill in Germany has been running the dark green "Förstergrün" fabric.

>>13713787
The original spec calls for a 3M branded scotchlite reflective which is bonded at high-temperature to the jacket. This is actually comparatively more expensive than just sewing on roll stock reflective tape, and results in a more comfortable and aesthetically pleasing jacket.

>>13713803
Or experience definitely supports this. All adhesive/bonded reflectives are NOT created equal. I personally blame the Chinese for giving the technology a bad rap in the consumer market.

>>13713804
Not really. No.

We are commissioning a private manufacturing run from a large German company which is used to order quantities starting in the tens of thousands.

We're asking them to produce discontinued items which require components and fabric they no longer stock. And we're asking them to produce these discontinued items in quantities that are far far smaller than their normal government contracts.

It would be different if we were doing modification on their existing items, but instead they're having to plan 3 months in advance just to get things setup for us.

We're not selling a branded sweatshirt made in Vietnam. The pre-order is out of necessity.

>But some find the uniforms antiquated and impractical, the Süddeutsche reported. One officer said the thick tunic was "unwearable in the summer," while another opined the outfits were so ill-adapted for duty they must have been made for "couch potatoes."

And the unflattering female uniforms led one officer to say wearing it on duty made her feel she was being “laughed at," with ladies' trousers so loosely cut that it was impossible to look as smart as male colleagues.

"A lot of female colleagues prefer the male trousers as they sit on the hips better, are more modern and less ungainly," she added.

Then just upgrade the uniform but keep the traditional colour.

It's an exact reissue of a completely dead jacket with high end 3M reflective, Swiss/German/Austrian components.

It is priced very fairly, especially when you consider the high manufacturing cost, import duties imposed, and free domestic shipping---It's less than our nighthawk bombers, and is an all around superior product with many more small details and manufacturing concerns.

It’s being custom made in Germany which to me speaks about quality and is pretty much as close to the new original jacket as you can possibly get. I’d understand the outrage if it was $300 but right now I’m confused

I said absolutely no such thing. There is ZERO supply, either used or new for the Sommerblouson. It has been completely discontinued for many years now, along with all of the other forest green police uniforms.

I discussed why we went with a pre-order earlier in the thread here. >>13713849

Included in the $112 pricetag is
>Manufacturing Cost and Genuine Components
>Shipping to the US
>8% US import Duty
>Domestic shipping to US customers

I don't know OP. I don't care about the jackets. It's just painful to see people on this board complaining about having to pay a reasonable price for any clothing let alone a custom order. I know most people here are teenagers with no budget but you gotta face the real world sometime. If you want something you need to pay for it.

As was pointed out several times before the nine dollar price tag seen on some of these jackets was a stroke of luck. It was a fluke. Someone got a few surplus jackets and didn't know what the hell to do with them so they unloaded them for a few bucks.

Yes, it's a custom order, idiot. My Guidi combat boots were made in a factory but they were a custom order. I get where you're coming from but "manufacturing it" doesn't mean we magically have super low costs or unlimited quantities available.

I've said two times already in this thread. In order to work with the original manufacturer of the bomber we have to meet their minimums.

Because they have not been setup to produce the bomber for 5+ years, that means a large minimum order quantity and a sizable up front deposit before they even lift a finger to get started.

Clothing production lines work like anything else: the tooling, sewing, fabric handling machines etc must all be configured for the specific project at hand. Any disruption, any single day of idle machinery costs a lot of money.

Think about it from the manufacturer's perspective. If you were spitting out 30,000 uniforms a month for Europe's police... and some guy came up to you and said "hey make 100 of this thing from 5 years ago" you'd kick him right out the door.

The uniforms aren't really what makes North American cops unapproachable, it's largely the social stigma they've helped create.

Granted I work at McDonald's and make their coffee every morning, so the only real interaction I have with them is friendly chit chat or helping them get camera footage.

They do always look like they're about to raid the place though, and British police uniforms are dope.

Hey if it's so easy to make tons of money why don't you contact a German clothing manufacturer and get these jackets made and sell them for $50? Surely it'd be worth your time and you'd get tons of money while providing everyone with cheap, quality clothing. Surely.

Thats the diamond industry anon, but same rules apply. Youre paying 112 dollars for a 9 dollar jacket. Thats the bottom line and everything else is kikery.

If the version with police markings was about 55 USD, I'd be tempted to buy two but $113 for one jacket does seem a bit steep. Maybe if there was some kind of deal where the more jackets you ordered the less each jacket would cost more anons would be willing to cop.

>Youre paying 112 dollars for a 9 dollar jacket.
But that's not what's happening. Just because surplus jackets were sold for $9 one time years ago does not mean the jackets cost $9 to make. Surplus clothes are considered to have already served their purpose to their original user and are basically trash but rather than throwing them out they sell them in bulk to private parties and get a little money back because hey, a little money is better than no money. Private parties then sell the individual pieces at whatever price they guess they can get, which is usually fairly low, because they are essentially selling a military/police force's trash that they bought for a small percentage of what it cost brand new.

What Kommandostore is doing is basically what the government originally did, going to the manufacturer and specifying what they want made brand new, the only difference is they are ordering a fraction of the amount the government would order so the cost to produce each item will be higher. On top of the material cost, there is the cost to set up the factory to produce the items, the cost of paying the workers, the profit the manufacturer needs to make to stay in business, the cost of shipping it to the us, the cost of paying kommandostore employees, and lastly the profit they need to make to grow the business.

I personally have stopped buying from kommandostore, because they no longer offer a good deal, but you have to be a complete moron to not understand how a small production run of brand new jackets costs more than jackets which are essentially resold garbage. Does a $112 jacket have the same bang-for-your-buck as the same jacket but fairly worn and musty for $9? Of course not, but these jackets are quite hard to find and haven't been sold for $9 in years, and even then it was a fluke.

You're doing the same thing as complaining a new Honda civic costs more than a used 20 year old Honda civic.

DeBeers have a monopoly on ALL the diamond supplies in the world. Literally all of it. They artificially inflate the price and kikes make up mental gymnastics get you to pay more for what is essentially rocks they pick off the ground.

Now lets look at the current scenario
>jacket comes from k store only - monopoly
>price is artifically inflated despite there being an unlimited supply
>mental gymnastics being utilized to justify paying 112 for 9 dollar milsurp
