Hi dudes, what are the Amouage fragrances like for men? I ask because Flannels has a sale for the Amouage myths for men parfum for £135 for 100ml. Is it worth it and is it nice? Fragrantica reviews seems OK but I'm quite wary of dropping over 100 for a fragrance.

usually amouage frags have a resinous and smoky signature. myths man is like a less smoky and more flowery version of interlude man. it's not that great compared to the other amouage offerings. would not recommend the blind-buy even at a cheaper price than retail.

I like scents that are at least a little bit fresh, and are fairly masculine. Considering YSL La nuit d'lhomme, although I heard performance is not so good.

i think it's a great scent, and rather masculine as far as rose scents go. w/r/t grandma, rose+patchouli is a classic combo that's been around for ages, so no surprise it's reminiscent of old perfumes.

my problem with Noir de Noir is that it feels very dressy, almost formal, when on a guy, so it's not something that would get worn very often

I totally agree, it's definitely synthetic but it's a gorgeous synthetic. People hate on the opening but I like it just as much as the drydown. The drydown is definitely where the fragrance shines but the opening is most definitely great.

when Sauvage was first released, it had at best a mixed reception (leaning negative for the most part: here, on Basenotes, and on Fragrantica). now it's THE meme frag

Those negative reactions are a lot of contrarians.

Of course it’s all personal preference, but it’s probably one of the most engineered fragrances ever. It’s supposed to be a nice smell, not a great fragrance, and it’s been to designed to appeal to the widest amount of people around.

Plus the advert was shit, so there’s that.

So Gallagher apparently has a new fragrance and it sounds pretty neat actually. Notes are: Apple Crisp, Plum, Turkish Rose Absolute, Brown Sugar, Golden Honey, Tonka Bean Absolute, Labdanum, Vanilla, Australian Sandalwood, Patchouli, White Musk, and Stainless Steel.

It's just nostalgia. I thought the same about Fahrenheit but then i bought an actual "vintage" bottle. It was pretty much identical (it was a bit stale like you would expect with an old perfume).
There are very few legit reformulations (YSL notably) around that you can actually notice. Most of them are based on some now-forbidden note or simply revisioned for modern time (Esenzia).
95% of reformulation crying is just people relying on memory (hint: human memory is shit and memories change every time you recall them, that's why eye wittnesses beyond short-term memory are wrong most of the time on things as simple as color of the shirt). Never trust your memory when judging a perfume, get an actual, verifiable bottle/decant of the scent and do a blind test - tell your friend or w/e to label samples, try them and see how shitty your smell is in reality.

They're not close at all really. Original Vetiver is much more of a soapy green scent. It opens close to Mugler Cologne with citrus top notes, developing an herbal character that is more like fresh marijuana to my nose than vetiver as I've experienced it in any other fragrance. Though both are fresh EdPs, Gray Vetiver is a heavier, more serious scent compared to the Creed.

Demeter makes a brand I once had in my freshman year in high school almost a decade ago, but the bottle came to me with the squirt nozzle broken, so I just rarely used it.
