Hey guys, is Guidi any good? I heard it’s high quality, but nothing about comfort.

Never owned a pair but they look sick. I bet that they are as comfortable as any other boot

>> No.13695278

>>13694625
they're probably uncomfortable if you have only worn cushioned sneakers and such, as the soles and heels are leather

>> No.13695294

I think they're comfy as hell. There's not really a substitute for the feeling of perfectly broken-in leather. My custom combats fit me like a glove and my derbies are pretty comfy as well. Some of the only derbies I've found that aren't at least a bit uncomfortable.

They look sick!

Can anyone explain me the difference between all the leathers they use.
As I understand it they have some "classic" models that you can always order and choose the kind of leather (pig, horse etc?)
How do you even order from them?

Mine are coming on Monday. I expect that it takes some time until they feel comfortable, as it has been with previous leather boots I have had.

AFAIK Guidis do not come with an inner sole. Thus, you can pick a sole according to what you want the boot to feel like. With the outer sole, you can have someone add a layer of rubber or whatever if you do not want to walk on leather. This will also affect how you experience comfort when walking.

Farfetch has a good variety of the latest season. Calf, horse, and ostrich leather feel different and supposedly have different properties. You can see the material listed on Farfetch.

If you want a custom order you can go through their website or through one of their major stockists like Hide.

As another anon said, different leathers have different looks and properties. Deerskin and calf leather are softer and more buttery, bison, pig, and horse are stiffer. Some, like pig and ostrich, have a stippled or grained look and feel to them.
You can also get most models in reverse leather, which is just like it sounds. It has a similar look to suede but suede is split grain (they split the leather along its edge) and reverse leather is full grain (whole uncut), which makes it much more durable. All of my reverse leather footwear has aged beautifully and can withstand rain, dirt, and mud as long as you clean and brush them.

Hope this helps!

pic related are my oldest pair of guidis

My Guidi 788z’s are probably my favorite thing I’ve ever owned but something be aware of if you’re buying one of the backzip Guidis is how easily the zipper can get fucked because a lot of flexing and tension happens in the back of the shoe. The zipper tape can easily rip especially if it’s an older model. Their Newer made-in-chinese-factory boots have slightly better quality zippers that flex a bit more and don’t tear as easily. If your zipper breaks you can email Guidi support and they’ll send you a new set of zippers to have a cobbler put in

Did you spray your reverse leather boots with anything or just wear them as is in the mud & rain?
I've had reverse cordovan 991s for a few years now but lived in a desert until recently so I never had to think about them getting wet. Now I've moved somewhere with wet winters and I'm considering having my 991s shipped to me, but I don't want to ruin them.

Nah, I've never treated them. I've always thought about it but never got around to it. I'll occasionally use a suede cleaner if they get gnarly but it seems like most scuffs seem to work themselves out on their own.

Granted my city gets a lot of drizzle but not much heavy rain. If you're moving someplace with wet winters I'd find a spray or something.

Right?
At some point I just accept certain pieces as beaters. I'm not the type to baby all my clothes. I have a pair of Balmain biker jeans that I bought maybe seven years ago and they're just now nearly dead. The pockets have torn out, the thigh zipper pulls have broken off, and they're faded and frayed to hell. I wear them every night bartending and really couldn't care less at this point. Maybe I'll re-dye them and get a bit more life.

The point is don't get to attached to pristine clothing if you can't afford it.

>They look like women's shoes to men

Afaik all their boots are either for women or unisex

>> No.13698589

>>13698576
I mean all the unisex models are
998, 988, 991, PL2 etc but they definitely make more feminine models that are mostly seen in women's sizes, have higher heels, longer shafts, etc.
