I've met them in person/talked a few times since I live in New England (CT) and some of my family friends are related to them so they've been at a few of the same family/social circle gatherings. Been to their shop once. Very kind people, even though I don't own any of their clothing. Also, I follow them on instagram and some of their posts are cheesy in my opinion/contrived to make them look like they have the perfect life/American Dream. prep is still going strong. though you don't have to look like you're straight out of 'take ivy', that can be overdone (besides the fact that there are very little made in USA brands left). Prep is really well mixable with British brands such as John Smedley, Sunspel and Fred Perry, and with the Italian menswear brands (Canali, Brioni, Corneliani, Loro Piana, Cucinelli, Zegna etc.).
Some things are kinda outdated though, you look ridiculous in nantucket red, teal and piss yellow stuff they used to wear a decade or 2 ago.

If you're under 25 you have to tone it down. Eg: wear a tucked in shirt with jeans/khakis and penny loafers with colorful socks.
Most importantly never ever take yourself too seriously and don't try to get every detail perfect. Let the shirt untuck and billow, loafers get scuffed, shetland sweaters wear out, part your hair but let it get messy throughout the day. If you wanna wear dressier pants like flannels (or creased khakis) swap the loafers for beat up white sneakers.
I've been dressing prep since I'm 19, walking a fine line between looking too dressy and looking like a crusty slob admittedly pretty successfully (from my own and others opinion).

I like it. It's honestly how I wish most people still dressed.

>Cheap, ill-fitting graphic tees from target with various superhero logos or childish slogans about videogames or other stupid shit
>Gaudy, ugly logos plastered across clothes because they're "luxury"

Cheap and readily available clothing was a mistake. Do you have any idea how many clothes a person can go through in their life? How many of those clothes end up in goodwill, or just in the dumpster?

Fucking tons. Tons of clothes. I wish we still dressed like this - lots of collars, simple color choices, few, if any logos on clothing.

Fuck I'm so pretentious FUCK

the classic maritime clothing is always great although the classic naval look is more interesting than the yacht club side of it

I've never understood the fascination with this kind of school uniform. Maybe because it is more normal/common in britain and because I was actually forced to wear blazers etc. at school

The blazers were stupid(especially the head boy's blazer which had more sleeve stripes than the average rear admiral) but forcing the seniors to buy expensive custom ties with the school's crest to distinguish them from lower year shitters was a stroke of genius.
