Honestly where do I buy a Bane jacket? Nobody wears them here in Japan so it would feel fresh.

Get it directly from the man who made it for the film - Jonathan A Logan. He does leather for Hollywood, and though expensive, the quality is fucking superb.

That being said, this isn't the Bane jacket...it's just a shearling long coat...

Were you born there, and if not what do you do for work? I really want to move there in a few years but i know the easiest way is going as an english teacher and that isnt my college major

>> No.13663677

You can get a job that's not teaching English, it's just a lot more difficult. I might recommend coming over to teach and then looking for another job that fits your qualifications. It's a lot easier to find a job if you live in Japan.
But you would really have to be vigilant about finding that job. So many people get here and just stick with their teaching job because it's not too challenging, and finding work is hard. Not that teaching is the worst, but it's more-or-less a dead end.

I am going to school for design / web dev (graphic communications technically). I graduate in 2 years, but if i cant find anything solid for it i think i might go back and get an english degree to move there in a few years. I went to Japan this year for 2 weeks and fell in love with the place, i'd be willing to work a dead end job for a while if it meant living there honestly. I had a couple of ideas of places i'd like to apply my design skills to, but i'm sure theyll take japanese applicants 10/10 times over some college grad from the US lol.

That being said, thanks for the info. How is the language barrier living there? In just two weeks i was incredibly surpised how easy it was to talk to people and get around, but i would definitely want to start learning japanese if i was gonna move there.

You don't need an English degree to teach here unless you want to teach at a university. Your degree will do just fine if you're a native English speaker.
As for the language barrier, if you want to make native friends (and you do, foreigners in Japan are mostly cunts), you gotta learn. Also you could eventually get a design job if your Japanese is good enough. I used the resources from /DJT/ on /jp/ and a lot of socializing with Japanese kids at my campus before I came to Japan. If you stay immersed, you'll be N3 in no time.
If you're interested, consider taking a year off to come here, teach English and learn the language. You might find that you want to stay. And it you don't, well, it's just a year.

Really? Is there somewhere i can read up more on the requirements / process of doing it? If things dont pan out here that'd be totally what id want to do. Hardly any family in the US and i dont talk to them much so it'd be an easy move, and im willing to learn the language, i already picked up bits and pieces on my trip. (I know its tough to learn but i'd be able to navigate around with google translate and whatnot til i am more fluent)

I was thinking of doing a study abroad semester over there, it doesnt seem too insanely expensive and it will get me settled in quickly. Otherwise i'll probably wait til i graduate in 2 years to try what you said, but i definitely want to go back for an extended period of time. I feel like i have so many more questions but cant think of anything atm. Thanks for the tips man

lived in japan for 18 months, never met a single foreigner who wasnt a teacher or prostitute, I'd go as far as to say its close to impossible to get a 'career' going as a foreigner, the companies still employ people for a lifetime and its just a very racist place

>> No.13668635

>>13664332
also you dont need an english degree, just a degree in general and then a second language teaching qualififcation which you can do in four weeks. Some fo them dont even require a degree but theyre...not very prestitious and you can only use them in places like china

Thanks, i know it would be much more difficult, desu i respect their dedication to their own people, i do really like the prospect of just living there and teaching for a year or so, i can even do graphics or web dev remotely freelance so i could do a bit of both. As much as i'd love to design for a company like uniqlo or something based in japan i understand itd be very tough. How much did you bring with you? I would probably rent a storage locker for a year or something because i wouldnt be able to bring everything with me, but i'd be worried about having to waste so much money buying everything again only to leave it in a year. Same if i stay there.

Glad to hear i dont have to have an english degree though, i'd like to think i'm articulate enough to teach others english and im a pretty fast learner.
