Do you think there's anything wrong with copying an already existing tattoo?

Do you really want to live knowing that what you have on your arm is a bootleg of someone's tattoo, done by an inferior artist ?

I agree, tattoos are supposed to have meaning.

When I was in the army, I didn't even think about getting a tattoo until near the end of my deployment. I've seen and done some horrible things in my life so when I came back to the states I did a lot of volunteer work which prompted me to get two tattoos of the words "angel" and "devil" in chinese on my left and right wrists so that I can remind myself that I am capable of doing both good and bad things.

10 years from now I'll look at my wrists and still have profound thoughts of what went through my mind the day I decided to get these tattoos but the idiots who got them because they like nerdy shit will only see an outdated, obsolete franchise.

in all seriousness, if it has personal profound meaning to you, there is literally nothing anyone can say about your tattoos that should matter

Many tattoo artists will have flash designs that are for everyone and multiple people will have them and i believe it's okay when commissioning a tattoo artist to take INSPIRATION from another tattoo. But when you're completely copying someone else's tattoo that they have designed or payed someone to design its really rude and disrespectful. That tattoo could probably have a deep, important meaning behind it and its really rude to artists to copy another artists work. Imagine putting effort and time into drawing something for someone to steal it and ask another person to copy the exact same thing. It makes an artist feel like shit if you're just like "hey could you completely copy this style that was drawn by a different artist line for line" its just really shitty. plus why would you even want a tattoo that isnt unique to yourself? the whole point of tattoos is that they are unique, meaningful art.

By all means, take inspiration from another tattoo, theres nothing wrong with that. But let your artist incorporate their style or signature look or change a few things so it can be unique to you

Dont, Jap/Chinese/Korean letters or words look goon as fuck on people who aren't asian. Maybe if you were born/lived there your whole life that'd be cool as fuck. Otherwise don't, its not about "respect for the culture" or whatever sjw trash, it just makes you seem like a clown/wannabe. Also a deployment in Korea while cool Isn't something Id get a tattoo over. Don't know your MOS but cross your fingers for a active combat zone for your next deployment, then get a cool tattoo about where ever the fuck you get dropped.

I only get tattooed in conventions now, if your tattoo ain't so simple, it will be harder for somebody to copy it.
