I am thinking of blind-buying this, since it's not too expensive, I'm getting tired of wearing the same fragrance every day (Lanvin Avant Garde) and at the moment I don't have the time or care to look around for different scents/order testing sizes.
I'm interested because it supposedly smells like ink, but I've read different things about that. Thoughts?

With many of my personal Creed bottles the perfume had absolutely zero performance on the first two to three wears. Only after I decanted about 3 ml into a travel spray and let the bottle sit for a month did the scent really develop decent performance. This was my experience with Millesime Imperial and Aventus in particular, although most of my Creeds seemed to reach peak performance only after "macerating" in-bottle for a full year.

If you have access to a Le Labo boutique where they mix fragrance for you to order, talk to them about the phenomenon. They typically advise customers to allow 2-3 weeks before achieving full performance. I firmly believe based on personal experience that this also applies to recently opened bottles from many other brands and that having more air in the bottle helps to accelerate the process.

It smells nothing like Encre Noire. It's slightly mature but at the end of the day it's very sweet. Basically like i said: Citrus >>herbs and sweet pine>>florals>>>woody amber and vanilla.

If you like the original Le Male, Nikos Sculpture, PP Minotaure, or even MB Individuel you would probably like Roma Uomo. you can get a bottle for under $30 on some websites.

Don't blind buy DHI, especially 100 ml. If you've got little to no idea what to get and want to feel comfortable wearing frag - buy Acqua Di Gio Profumo or YSL l'Homme, something safe

If you're only planning on using it for this occasion and then maybe only once a week I wouldn't bother with a full bottle of whatever you go for, just get a 5/10/15ml sample of something, that'll still last a while with infrequent use.

As for sprays, depends on the strength of what you're wearing, something strong might only be 2-3 whereas something light might be 5-6. Personally I tend to do one on each wrist, one on each side of the neck and one on the chest.

The Pride of Armaf is actually a very good Sauvage clone with overnight longevity. I am very critical of clones but can recommend Pride in good conscience. For the anon who asked me about Sapientiae, my summer samples arrived and I've so far tried three of them. Keep in mind that where I live it's around 20-25 degrees Celcius so maybe I could have different opinions on the fragrances if it was warmer.
Cocoventura is really fruity, with coconut being by far the most prominent note to my nose, especially after it dries down; it smells pleasant but I don't really know if I like the idea of smelling like a walking coconut. As I expected from all of these, they don't really project strongly, actually they're quite weak on projection, although they all have lasted me a good amount of time as a skin scent (for real, I've asked for opinions and people had to come super close to my neck to be able to smell anything, but that came from the one that projected the least). This one I've worn three times, I think.
Naomi for me smells really terrible, like what I would expect some green-smelling disinfectant to smell like. I've only worn this one once and am not looking forward to doing it in public.
Bergalicius is the one I've liked the most, it's the closest thing to something bright and citrusy I've smelled from them(maybe it would be brighter if it was an EDT), unfortunately, as I said, it was the one that performed the least for me, but I understand it probably needs to be worn in a hotter day.

I will post more as I try the other two and in case I change my mind about my thoughts on the ones I've already tried.

Shower more thoroughly. Change your soap and your routine. Keep at it for a week or two to stabilize and see if your fragrances smell any better. Or, you can go with the tried and true hippie patchouli bomb. Basically any monster patchouli fragrance should hide your lack of proper self care, as it has for generations.

Consider Santa Maria Novella Patchouli or Lorenzo Villoresi Firenze Patchouli for the dryest, earthiest, most assertively Patch scents out there. If you can't find these in your area, search for Dior Patchouli Imperial or Zegna Javanese Patchouli. Both are excellent choices as a patch-plus woody composition for daily use. The Dior is even fancy enough for special occasion wear and gets a lot of attention at formal gatherings.
On the sweeter (and less expensive) end of the spectrum you could do far worse than Montale Patchouli Leaves or Molinard Patchouli. The Montale may be the most potent fragrance I've ever worn, and is a patchouli-vanilla-amber-wood monster. The Molinard still features some vanilla and amber, but not to the same degree as the Montale. Molinard is an all-purpose, all-season sort of patch, and it's cheap enough so that you can see whether patchouli is a note that works for you with minimal risk.

I want to ask you a precursor question before dipping in the world of fine fragrance: what kind of clothes pick up the the least amount of smell?

I have some old clothes, and when I wear them, some smell no better or worse than I do after a day of work. On the other hand, I have some clothes that's supposedly 100% cotton, yet it smells awful even after breaking a small sweat. When I take it off after getting back home I find that I don't smell of sweat at all, it was all my t-shirt.

I don't want to get any fragrance if the damn clothes are gonna overpower it completely.

>> No.13582011

I’ve tried. My experience was that it’s way harder than you think to make a fragrance that doesn’t smell like shit. It’s also a lot more expensive than you think, considering that you’ll often have to buy way more than you need of certain ingredients, and the fact that shipping (especially if you’re international) usually requires hazmat certification.

Honestly, it’s not really worth doing unless you’re willing to commit years of your life and thousands of dollars to really learning the intricacies of perfumery. You might think it’ll be easy, but mixing notes together and managing to keep them balanced and complimentary is much more difficult than you think it’ll be.

I'm tired of girls my age (i'm 28), they want kids and family and shit but i'm fresh out of uni and my career is nowhere near the point where i could afford a family (mostly because i want a house wife and my area is pretty expensive, even many young executives around here need two incomes for a family, so it'll take 5-8 years). I was busting my ass for years in uni, now i want to take it slow and build a strong relationship but these fuckers want to get creampied few months into relationship because their facebooks are full of that family stuff.
I don't mind a stupid 16 if she's a good material to work with. I've been dating freshmen lately but they have all the downsides of a young girls, like stupidity, but are already past the point where you can groom them into wife material. I have a buddy who’s literally autistic (he’s got the ass burgers), and he goes to anime cons a lot. Anyway, one day he was out seeing a movie and he ran into this girl he knew from a con, who was there with her boyfriend and another female friend of hers. They wound up going to dinner, and over dinner, the friend had mentioned she was single and talked about a vidya game I also like. My buddy mentioned that I liked that game too, and said her and I should meet, so he gave her my number. She texted me, we set up a date. I didn’t realize how young she was until after our first date, which had gone quite well.

Also, I bought her a small bottle of Amouage Dia Woman. She likes it, but almost never wears it, because she thinks it’s so expensive and doesn’t want to waste it. Only other fragrance she wears is that Vera Wang Princess, and only when we fuck. She makes sex into this whole big thing. Always goes into the bathroom and does her hair and makeup, puts on fragrance and lingerie, comes to my room and does a little strip tease for me. It’s sexy, but also adorable as hell that she tries so hard.
