I love the mono docs and use them quite often. Sometimes I polish them with some leather finish, but it's pretty rare. As long as you wash them regularly with a hot towel they will look great.

Yes, at the end of the day there's no great problem with Blake stitch or glued, especially if you have a large rotation of shoes anyway.
However, all things (price, design etc) being more or less equal, I think GYW is the better buy.

If you're looking for some lighter summer shoes sure there's lots of Italian makes that will do nicely.
I find it much harder to ever recommend shoes that are just glued. They are mostly those mass luxury branded shoes "made in Italy" (by a legion of imported Chinese coolies) and don't hold up as well. Mitigate this like I said by having a large rotation and I suppose there are certain styles that only appear on glued shoes.
To each their own.

GYW after all is a compromise for mass made, factory made footwear; handwelted is the ultimate if given the choice.
