Narcissistic personality disorder is a real disorder (not to be confused with what the average joe knows as narcissism). I feel like it is the reason for today's political climate, for both the behaviour of people on the right as well as the left. It's the reason for so many more young people growing up with depression, allergies, self-harm and other disorders. When the hippie generation decided they did enough to empower others and started to empower themselves, abandoning traditional family structures to follow lucrative careers, they doomed our societies for generations to come. They raised a generation of people who had to fight for their parents' love and attention, either by being sick and worrying them or by achieving goals (good marks, being popular, success in sports) and making them proud. These generations lack true love and empathy because their parents never provided them with either during the most important years of a child's development. They will forever be either depressed and associating with who they see as weak and defeated and themselves, competitive and aggressivly pushing their ideas or both in hopes of replicating what their subconscious thinks equals the wrmth of a loving parent

That's honestly why I always tie in promiscuity, hypersexuality, homosexuality, transgenders, and deviant sexual traits with some underlying insecurity or mental trauma. I wish we'd stop glorifying such things and actually try to help people instead of helping them dig their graves.

I would hate to imagine what would've happened to me if I went down the path I was going without someone to blatantly spell it out for me what was happening, instead of pandering to my feelings.
