I noticed some guys in the pictures here have what would be considered highwater pants. The cuffs of the pants are high and show the socks. Is it possible to still pull this look off today? Are there any benefits to wearing pants that are short? I live in Texas and it's getting 100-110 F here. I actually like wearing pants but it's like a fucking deathtrap when it's that hot. But i'm not talking about rolling up the cuffs.

the best you can do, as you suggested, is rolling up the cuff. noticeably short pants make you look like a child.

>>13546020
"Short pants" are in right now. You can only really pull this off if your socks match the pants otherwise don't wear socks or no-shows. A/O's and loafers are ideal, I think oxfords or laced shoes and short pants are cheap.

Man FUCK Europe. Why are there so few affordable brands/stores akin to J crew and Gap in this shitty ass continent. PRL and Lacoste widespread are insultingly expensive. Who pays 100+ euros for a plain crew neck sweater? I literally can't find a regular navy cable knit or any quarter zips for a reasonable price. At this point all my chinos and shorts are from H&M, all my OCBDs are from Uniqlo and I am wearing my dads old gingham shirts from 1993 that I got tailored.

Americans are so fucking lucky with this shit

>> No.13550106

>>13550034
Frenchie here. Here's what I do:

Shirts:
Super denim for american brands like gitman vintage. Often on sale.
Luxire/Cotton Society/Shirtonomy:
Excellent shirts, you pay a bit more (90 euros) but you can get exactly what you want in terms of cut, material, collar, buttons
Boggi Milano:
Great quality shirts for the price. Italian fit though which you might not want.
Thrifting:
In Paris there's brooks brothers everywhere.
Charles Tywritt:
Very cheap but decent collars and materials.

Basics:
There's a million places for basics. I really like A Day's March but there's other brands like asket and others doing the online only minimilism.

Trousers:
Asket do great chinos. Uniqlo ok. I go thrifting for gant stuff as well. Cordings in London do the best trousers for the price. In Paris there's a place called scavini that do decent trousers.

Outerware
Barbour/Orvis/Gant (on sale)

Shorts:
J.crew drawstring 6 inch are my go-to. You can order them online without import duties.

Shoes:
Europe fucking destroys americans in terms of footware. Loake/Barker/Cheaney/Septieme Largeur/Tricker's/Carmina/Meermin etc etc etc.

There's lots of brands in Europe. Just because you can't get J.Press or whatever doesn't mean you can't find something of equal if not superior quality.

I know a shit ton of info about watches so I could definitely help. Also great at photoshop. I think I'll take a crack at this. Do you guys want a preppy-specific one? I think generally the only true distinction for this sub-sect would be vintage dress watches, opting for gold cases, wearing only leather straps, keeping the case size small (below 42mm), and not having the design be too techy.

But here's a list of watch brands you should check out anyway, just from what I like from style, history, brand, quality, innovation, construction:

>Sinn
>Modern TAG Heuer
>Vintage Heuer (AVOID ANYTHING FROM LATE '80s TO EARLY 2000s)
>Movado (Not Museum, NEVER MUSEUM)
>Longines
>Zenith
>Stowa
>Seiko (SARB033/035 is the cheapest you should go)
>Hamilton
>Tissot
>Tudor
>Rolex (avoid if under 30 years old)
>JLC
>Cartier

Some """fashion brands""" that are actually really great stuff:
>Tiffany & Co.
>Hermes
>Bulgari
>Cartier
>Burberry (kind of)

NEVER EVER BUY THESE
>BOSS
>Invicta
>Fossil
>Any "menswear" brand like Ermagdildo Saratoga or shit like that
>Tommy Hilfiger
>Polo
>Armitron
>Daniel Wellington
>any clothing brand from Macys
>any watch by Gucci
>ANY VINTAGE SHIT FROM EBAY. PEOPLE ONLY SELL VINTAGE WATCHES BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEM BETTER THAN YOU AND THEY CAN DETECT WHEN A SERVICE WILL BE NEEDED SO THEY SELL IT TO A DIPSHIT LIKE YOU WHO WILL HAVE TO INHERIT THE SERVICE COSTS AS WELL ONCE THE RUSTY PIECE OF SHIT STOPS WORKING AFTER 2 DAYS. PATINA IS A FUCKING MEME, ITS JUST DIRT AND IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT ON 99.99% OF ALL WATCHES

Only buy if you're actually poor. These are "good watches for the price", but still cheap, and should be used only as a placeholder as you save for a watch that isn't cheap:
>Timex
>Seiko cheaper than SARB033 (SKX007 is fine for this purpose)
>seiko solar
>citizen eco drive
>Casio (analog)
>Bulova

Microbrands can be cool but anything on kickstarter is literal garbage. Ask me anything, I'm autistic.
