Going from German cars to German watches is a little squirrelly, though.

Same with Americans, because American watches are almost always quartz while American cars are almost all still ICE, but they both share similar levels of outsourcing and quality. There is no equivalent to an LS engine for watches, as far as I know.

3132 is imo the best Rolex movement (except maybe 3156, which is the same but with day/date)

31 was the last and best traditional Rolex calibre with an arbored autoweight. Rolex is switching to a BB unit in the 32s. and the 3132 has the parachrom hairspring, which, imo is the best hairspring. as opposed to silicon, which isn't yet in the 32xx, but my guess is that the 3232 will be silicon. the only real problem with the 31xx is the tiny winding pinions have a tendency to break, but they're cheap
