I’ve gone to prep school all my life, so whenever I see middle-class degenerates dressing prep it’s pretty annoying. I don’t even wear RL, Brooks, VV, etc. anymore because of the amount of prepfags, but light blue and white OCDBs are still a staple.

My problem with preppies is that they're insufferable cunts that behave like white nignogs.

A true prep treasures traditional conservative values and wants to emulate the 50s nuclear family.

Don't read too much into the behaviour of preps on /fa/. They're just a bunch of teenagers interested in self aggrandisement. The fact that there's barely any brand discussion, barely any style advice and just argument over what prep is really reveals the character of the posters in this thread.

I'll ask the same thing I normally ask, can anyone recommend a nice substantial oxford shirt with a decent collar roll that I can find in the UK/Europe? I know a lot of trad UK brands but they are VERY pricy (£150). I would prefer to not buy clothes made in third world countries and ideally not to import from the states.

Currently I've ordered some nice sirts from Hartford, Cotton Society and shirtonomy. Anyone have experience with Luxire?

Eh, can't speak for the continent, but OCBDs never really caught on here, most of the upper classes wither wear T&A style non-buttoned collars, or country checks from their hunting gear

I have one or two from Gant which were rather cheap and not terrible quality, but perhaps you'd be better off with an american brand like Brooks? There's a shop in Regent's st., I believe

Thanks but they're so overpriced for the UK market that I would rather just go with Drake's.

Fair, and by 'not terrible' I mean compared with most high street brands here, at least they understand the basics

I've always thought of Oxfords as casual shirts anyway, something to wear for relatively dirty or relaxed wear. Why bother putting effort into finding a decent one?

And well, if you're after quality, the obvious answer is T&A anyway, although these aren't the typical American fit etc: http://turnbullandasser.co.uk/shirt-wh-oxford-plai-classic-fit-button-down-collar-3-button-cuff-6

>>13508648
Aha, maybe you've misunderstood me. Quality means a good collar roll, thick fabric and a length that isn't skimpy. Basics should always be of a good quality. That 200 pound shirt is frankly rediculous. I was hoping more for the British/European equivalent of Mercer and Sons/Kamakura/J.press/Brooks. These manufacturers all produce good quality shirts that aren't very expensive.

>> No.13508668

>>13508658
Ah ok, I think I'm likely coming at this from a British perspective. I assume you're not British? Likely the best you'll find in that regard will be an American or Japanese brand (like you mentioned) with a shop here, the 'old school' shirtmakers here (Jermyn St, the row) don't tend to go for that American, 'preppy' vibe. I get what you're after, but bear in mind that OCBDs tend to be historically associated with American-influenced working class subcultures so it'll be harder to find a decent British brand making that kind of shirt

Welcome, sorry I can't help further - I suppose my advice would have to be to suck up the price/mark up and go for Brooks (you likely won't find better here)

On trousers, depends on whether you want chinos, flannels, tweed etc, and the kind of cut. New and Lingwood are quite inventive, and Benson & Clegg have a decent grey flannel - also, Orvis offer a few really decent quality chinos, even high waisted with pleats which is rather a rarity today, as well as cords and moleskin. If you're in London, just walk up Jermyn St. and Savile Row, the ready-to-wear is on sale at the moment so you could find something nice from Gieves for 100 pounds or so
