So I'm listening to an audiobook on ancient Rome and wanted to get a t-shirt cause Caesar is hype.

Googled SPQR t shirt and this was the first one that popped up. Design looked cool so I decided to cop it.

Now, I understand designers take artistic liberties to make their designs look aesthetically pleasing and unique so I didn't mind it being a tad historically inaccurate.

HOWEVER. The eagle looks eerily similar to the Nazi eagle. Did the Romans ever have a standard similar to this eagle so I can rationalize wearing this in public?

Or am I going to get bike-locked by ANTIFA? Will normies even know the difference?

I thought it was a nazi shirt from the thumbnail because I couldn't read the letters. It looks low-key nazi like you're flying your freak flag but don't want to commit to a full on swazi. Even knowing what it is, I would still question whether you were a nazi.

Looks and fits like shit, also obviously looks like something a smart ass alt right teenager would wear because he wants to debate people about the shirt being nazi or not, then smugly post about the encounters on 4chan

The nazis took most of their aesthetics from Ancient Rome so yes, it's likely it may get confused for it, especially by antifa scumbags who are constantly on the lookout for anyone resembling a nazi to take their teenage angst out on.

Yeah that's my only issue with it. Might try to get something more like this next time...

You shouldn't use a t shirt unless you are fit imo.

Ironically despite actually being closer to a fascist design this shirt would be less likely to get you accused of being racist than the shirt OP posted.

The roman empire was basically de jure republic even in the imperial era, and the symbols of the republic, like SPQR, were still used extensively
