Im having right toe joint problems for a very long time and I need to wear insoles for a long time for injury to heal.

Problem is insoles work good only boots above the ankle so I need a light summer boot.

Brands and models similar to Palladium, any light mid high leather boot.

also - sole has to be stiff laterally, cant be too stiff (most chukkas have a too soft of a sole), wearing sneakers is what got me injured

does anyone wear palladium here, is the sole laterally stiff like that of a hiking boot or is it more like that of a sneaker?

Sneaker boot hybrid. I have 3 pairs, and I've switched out the laces and debranded them completely. They're no joke.

cut off all identifying tags or branding. Sand down the Palladium logo on the heel.
I have a hangup about wearing visible brand names.

ALTAMA OTB's

Was looking at Palladium because they make the only things close to the old Pataugas boots but I cant deal with the branding and went with the otbs
Might still pick up a pair of the Palls tho

I have a pair, they've held up damn well over about 2 years of pretty heavy use. For how they feel just imagine high top converse with treads and thick canvas, done.

>> No.13477764

>>13477683
There's a bunch of mid range brands like PRPS Goods & Co, even G-Star's better stuff - it's often deliberately easy to debrand and all you need is a seamripper, 3$ at the craft store. Of course there's Unbranded, also the watch company NoLabel.
IMHO a lot of better designers avoid branding. I don't need a fucking name or symbol to think "oh shit, those Margiela high tops/KVA's/Ricks are dope AF!" within seconds. Good design does that.

>>13477554
The uppers are canvas, so take that into account, but overall I would rather use these in hot climates than I would an American General Issue Jungle Boot. They've got quite comfortable insoles and they're light, something you appreciate after enough time walking. Israeli and French operators use them in hot climates, last I heard. Makes sense - they're relatively cheap AND easy to run in!

Didn't see a regular boot or fuccboi thread, so I'm asking here.

Bought some solovairs and they had this really ugly production flaw out of the box. Unfortunately I already wore them and didn't notice right away. Basically they didn't weld the actual sole together and now it sticks out weirdly on one shoe.

Any idea how to fix this? I can basically push it in place, but how to permanently get it right without it popping back out? Any experience with using a heated knife or glue? Any ideas?

Also don't buy solovair. They're 99% the same as made in Asia docs, just a little less plastic coating.

>>13477840
I thought there was some warranty on the Solos? Have you contacted them about the defect?

>> No.13477872

>>13477854
Yeah, but I haven't responded yet. They want to see the defect from another angle, when it is pretty damn obvious to see on this pic. The seam on the other shoe (as it should be) is a perfectly straight line without the gap. I looked up some threads of people who had far worse defects on brand new solovairs (sole coming off completely on one side and their customer service was really hesitant to provide a solution. So I assume they would not care about something like this either.

Honestly if you dig a bit, you hear plenty of these stories with their shoes. Their supposed 'better quality' is just a meme.

>> No.13477898

>>13477872
Kinda bummed about this cause I wanted to cop a pair of Solos next pay, I've had my china made docs repaired too many times but I use them nearly everyday for work.

Just saved me some money anon thanks.

It's a lil stiffer, but not as stiff as hiking boots or something like that.

>> No.13478206

>>13476238
so do all Palladium boots have glued on soles?

>> No.13478284

>>13477898
Don't do it. Solovair is literally the same shoe, except they don't spray (as much) plastic coating on the leather initially. The leather is the same thickness and texture, but their quality control is far worse than Docs.

>> No.13478298

>>13478206
All boots period have glued on soles. Even if there's stitching, the sole is still glued on.

then is the stitching there for reinforcement or aesthetics?

>> No.13478318

>>13478315
Well it does a great job holding the sole on while the glue dries. I'm sure there's some reinforcement going on, but you can wear right through the stitching without the sole falling off.

>> No.13478447

they last forever, are low profile, are good for everyday wear and can be used for casual hiking.

They take a hell of a beating before beginning to come apart (5+ years) and have gotten me through a lot of snow, rain, mud and ice.

as far as low-key boots go, these have been 100% satisfying for the price point.
