We all know the supremacy of the CASIO F-91W

But I have a problem with the plastic strap snapping, I snag it on stuff and it breaks. I've gone through 4 watches in 4 years. So I am looking for a CASIO with a metal band. Can /fa/ recommend a low profile CASIO with a metal band?

Casio A158W/A168W have a metal band, but I would have my doubts that it’s any more durable than the rubber one from the F91. The metal bands on those are really weak, and can tug on arm hair if you have a lot. You could just pay 40 bucks for a really functional G-Shock like a DW5600, but those aren’t as clean, aesthetically speaking.

Damn, maybe I should skip on those then. I am currently using the AE1000W (pic related backup watch when the F-91W breaks) and that armband is pulling my arm hairs when I sleep. Very annoying

I always liked the G-Shock functions, but I have never been a fan of the HUGE design. I wish they made lo-pro versions of them.

Do you have the DW5600? Are you happy with it? How's the strength of the band?

In, general, the square casios are a lot better looking than the round ones, and they’re also a bit less fuckhuge. The plastic band on my DW5600 is fine, it’s perfectly durable. You can get repacement straps for cheap, too, if you’re into things like swapping them out or modding them.

That world time is sorta cool, but I think I prefer the previous gen ones (A500 series, with the blue map especially). They might be hard to find nowadays, but the AE1200 series is still decent looking.

Casio A168, nearly identical to F-91W, but made of metal.

Sorta. The A168 has an electroluminescent backlight, which is much stronger (and battery-intensive) than the F91W’s and A158’s LED, which barely illuminates the face. It also has a slightly more cluttered appearance than the A158.

Also, the case is chrome-plated resin, not steel, and if you habitually knock it against shit it will certainly scratch. Then again, you can just buy a new one.

That will happen with steel as well.

Has a somewhat smaller bezel with a bit less junk on it, more space for the display. LED is kinda meh, but it gets the job done. Second time zone as a bonus. Band is easily adjustable; clasp slides up and down, no need to remove links. Only drawback, while the band is stainless steel, the body is plastic with chrome-like coating.

Is sleeping with one's watch on a common thing? Genuinely curious. I always take mine off before bed.

If you really want to.
The military one is an easy mod, just out negative film in the watch. And I'm really a fan of the simple face.

Maybe look at a NATO strap or something nylon? That said, the strap'll cost you as much as the watch.
