I want to buy a nice wallet. Which designer brand wallet should I go for? I’ve heard Louis Vuitton wallets are bulky, and I don’t really like that.

Wallets are among the items which capitalize on people's complexes on feeling 'special' by buying an overpriced piece of trash. If you go to any mall in China, you will find tons of fake designer wallets for around 10 to 20 bucks, and they're pretty much indistinguishable from the original. You're literally paying for a small imprint of a brand and your own self indulgence.

I should add that, despite of what you may think, these wallets are made in, or near, the same factories that make fakes. Same goes for t-shirts, shoes etc. When I say 'indistinguishable', I mean something that would be considered a B-grade ware. Something that is export quality, but may only be 98% due to some minor flaw in fabrication. I know there are shitty fakes, but I'm not even talking about them. I mean good stuff. It's virtually the same and can be had for 1/10 of the price, if anything.

Sure people thought it was real, but honestly it felt weird knowing I was just trying to fake impress people. There are still distinguishable features in fake wallets that I notice and people who know their shit can tell if it’s fake. Attention to detail like in the thread, logo placement, texture can be blatant to someone with an eye or know their stuff.

Literally the only reason to buy it is to project onto others and yourself with some kind of materialism induced bullshit.

I personally own a locally made leather bifold that costs maybe around 50 bucks. It doesn't display any branding whatsoever. I guarantee you it is just as well made, and most likely even better, than any designer wallet out there. If you emboss some kind of branding on it, it's suddenly 500.

These fake markets are literally generating profit out of nothing but a sheer mental construct that is happening in your brain when you look at a random placement of letters. You are literally buying an idea. Something that only exists in your mind, like a form of sectarianism.

I want a nice leather wallet, and I’ve considered buying a cheap one around $100, but the more I browse the more expensive ones, the more I want to opt for one.
Are wallets like pic related worth the money? I’m attracted to brand name and want people like it just as I like it. If I were to buy one, I’d want it to last years. I also get 30% off retail price wallets at nordstrom.

worth is a loaded concept especially when it comes to wallets. no, nothing is really worth the expense if you are looking at it practically. pay ten bucks for something made of canvas or nylon it will last you just as long as leather. if you want actually decent leather get something made of shell cordovan. pop designers like gucci or LV, the wallets arent as bad as say, wallets from wal-mart but youre paying for the branding after a certain point. completely up to you if that is "worth" whatever you are spending on.

I've have this Lanvin one for about 2 years now. Leather feels nice and soft, has some wear to it since it's my only wallet/card holder but still looks good.
Only issue is I've got faint wear marks on all my jeans and trousers from the raised metal logo
