Reposting because last thread hit bump limit.

Any advice? I currently have to blow dry my hair and any wetness fucks it up. It looks p good sometimes but the upkeep is killing me. When I don’t style it/when it fucks up I look like a freak. Need something new.

What do? I don't want to shave the sides, I'm MPBing on top and aren't on any treatments. Thin sides maybe? Idk how it works. I don't look very good bald, and have babyface/no cheeckbones to pull off clean shaven.

Also wondering if you folks have any recommendations on product for thick, straight hair. I typically blow dry until my hair's just a little damp and then apply pomade, however I do not like how it darkens my hair and adds shininess

I've been growing my hair out but everyday I become more and more disappointed. I don't know what to do with it. I style it with Sea Salt spray for volumen, but regardless of what I do, it usually falls into a perfect middle-part.
I wanted something like cronrows or a Buddha top bun, but I am so tired of it right now that I wouldn't mind buzzing it.

What up /fa/, I have got a barber's appointment this monday and still can't decide how to cut it. I've had long and long-ish hair for the last 4-5 years and wanted to try something new, also the upkeep and summer are killing me.
What hairstyle should I go for? I've been thinking either a longer undercut or fringe. I really like Till Lindemann's hair but I don't think I both can and want to pull it off. Sorry for the shitty border effects, I had to use some instagram bullshit editor since my laptop died.

About the thinner hair around the side of my head, I am susceptible to dermatitis and overall my head skin quality is shit, so I'm hoping the shorter hair might fix some of the issues. Also i don't really think I'm balding, my hairline has receded quite a lot between the years of 16 and 18 but then it has stayed consistent up until now.

How to keep long hair cohesive? My hair seems to settle into individual strands and looks unkempt. After I wash it it tends to go all boofy and directs outwards.

I use a hair drier on cool setting after washing. I also have to use nizoral because of Seb derm could that be what's fucking up my hair?

What the shit should I do with my hair guys? I've always done 3-5 mm on the sides and maybe 3 cm on top as long as I can remember and I want to try something new.
I should probably add that I have a big head even though I'm somewhat tall as well at 1.86 m (my cap is a size 8). I thought about either growing my hair out until shoulder length or getting a buzz cut. Would any of that work?

HOW THE FUCK DO I GET MY HAIR LIKE THIS?
It's the same length, same color even. It's super soft, but it's also incredibly thick and wavy and just goes out to the side and up instead of falling back. What the fuck do I do? I usually don't wash it but I've tried washing it and I've used pomade which helps but really is not great (it makes it too stiff). Should I get it thinned out at the barber? What product can I use that makes it floppy?

True nopoo is literally never shampooing. The first couple of weeks (for me it was just 10 days) your hair gets kinda greasy/gross but after that your body gets used to it and your hair starts being super healthy. You can take it as slow as you want, but the general concept is that shampoo is harsh and leaches your hair/scalp. Now if you feel your hair is super greasy and/or full of product, you could probably do a quick shampoo. Tbh, using conditioner is usually enough to get my hair/scalp feeling good.

Anyway, while I'm here, can anyone recommend something to do with my hair for the time being? I'm trying to grow it out and achieve an old-school rocker look, so I don't want to get a proper cut- but does anyone have any suggestions for what to do with it in the meantime? Like ways to trim/style it while it's in this awkward in-between phase? Because I hate how it looks right now, I look significantly younger than I actually am, and people at work poke fun of me for it.
It also almost always looks like it does on the left, because it's super straight and refuses to stay where I put it, such as on the right.

Or should I just give up and cut it all off?

Ok a few things. One your hairline could just be 'maturing'. A good way to tell if you are full on balding is if the hair on the top and your crown are thinning. This being said, with balding, usually the first sign is recession at the front and then the top etc thins after.

Two, you could see a dermatologist for them to see if you are really balding.

Now, if you are balding, the thing that you will want to do if you want to mitigate it is to get on Propecia (and possibly Nizoral shampoo) as soon as possible. This should freeze your hair in time and possibly even get some regrowth. You might want to consider Minoxidil but at an early stage you should be fine with just Propecia.

Now, the thing to consider with Propecia is that you could get sides, especially over a long period but fairly likely in the short term.

How old are you out of interest? I started noticing my receding hairline at around 23, at 25 I dabbled with some medications but not consistently, I am starting to thin on top in the last 6 months or so prob.

You hair looks in pretty good shape to me man, the actual shape of your hairline is good right now too. If you are thinning on top it is hard to see, but this can be hard to see because your hair is curly it has more coverage. Also I have heard the quote that you only notice hairloss after like 50% is gone or something crazy.

I would advise that you just become a bit more conscious of your hair, monitor it. Have a look at what it looks like wet, run your hands through it, keep a photo record of your hairline. Keep an eye on the miniaturization of the frontal hair.

If you notice differences as time goes on you should be able to track its progression.

A thing that you might want to start doing is using Nizoral shampoo (contains ketoconazole) or a ketoconazole based shampoo with some other experimental topical anti androgens such as regenepure dr shampoo. This is a way of doing something small that has little downsides in terms of side effects.

If you do get to the point where you think you are balding and want to do something, it pretty much has to be Propecia. Though the problem is that it can cause bad sides.

By the way, the only reason I am not prescribing you Propecia right now is because of the side effects. If Propecia had no side effects I would tell every man, regardless of whether they are balding or not to take Propecia daily just to prevent even the risk of balding.

At the moment your hair could remain relatively solid for decades or it could be beginning to bald, I would advise that you must be sure that you are balding before considering Propecia.

The unfortunate paradox though of course is that if you are balding you will want to catch it as early as possible with Propecia as Propecia for most part just freezes your hair (with the potential for a small amount of regrowth).

No problem and good choice. The only piece of advice I would give you in reference to a derm is that if they advise you to start taking minoxidil/rogaine on it's own to begin with I wouldn't do it. If you are balding, the first choice should aways be Propecia as it deals with the underlying cause of balding (DHT accumulation around the follicle). Minoxidil on its own will mask the balding for a period, but the DHT accumulation will continue and will catch up with you. Minoxidil should generally only be used in conjunction with an anti DHT medication, but your hair is good enough that if you are balding I would try just taking Propecia on it's own.

I have it kinda like that but without hair gel. I hate how slimy it looks in my hair. Not that hairspray looks natural or anything but at least you only notice it's there because my hair stays in place unnaturally well. Been meaning to get it cut as of late, and I'd typically do a short-medium on the back and sides and leave it longer on the top and just comb it back sorta like this. I start my first job out of college at a multi national consulting firm in mid-July.

Dilemma: I've been growing my hair (thick, dark, curly) since October and don't plan to cut it anytime soon.

How can I avoid looking unprofessional? As I understand, long hair in business setting is pretty frowned upon.
