You guys have legit bought in to propaganda about the German military that was made to make defeating them more impressive. Their motorization was a joke, these fools used horses to move supplies from start to the end of the war. Their war industry was a joke, they focused on less of supposed superior quality instead of quantity this meant the allies had more planes, tanks and trucks every year while Germany had leas. Production of their arms was way too slow to meet demand, they were using bolt-action rifles until the end of the war for god sake. Their semi-automatic weapons were far too rare in comparison to the allies in general.

Their entire military doctrine relied completely on short and fast campaigns, this works well until you're at war with a country for more than a few months which is why they floundered against Britain and Russia.

Aesthetically? Yeah they beat the rest but to say the German military was good? There are reasons why they lost.

This really doesn't mean anything. Annexing minor powers and allies really isn't that difficult. The most outstanding victory was in France and that was due to encirclement and a quick French capitulation which resulted in low casualties for all sides France, Britain and Germany. At its core the German army was still flawed and not ready for a modern war, they relied on brilliant maneuvers but figting a war relying on always hitting 21 is going to end poorly eventually which is exactly what happened.

I believe he's Hans-Albin Freiherr von Reitzenstein, an SS-Obersturmbannführer who killed himself when it was suggested he might be implicated in the rape of a hiwi helferin. The webbing is probably for a sharpshooter's rifle g41/g43 I'd guess. I know Werner Wolff liked to run around with an svt-40 despite being an Obersturmführer.

Officers of Panzer units often wore both Panzer Wraps and Feldblusen (look at photos of Joachim Peiper to see examples of this) and wearing a camo uniform over field-greys became very common either when smocks were unavailable or the individual desired to be a special snowflake. The SS was particularly bad about this, with officers appearing to consider their dilettante interest in fashion design more important than inconsequential things like tactics or low casualty rates. And I don't blame them.

I'm not sold on it being tailor-made to be honest, as small numbers of camouflaged panzer suits were made from left-over fabric in whatever pattern they had laying around when dot-44 was being phased in as the universal pattern. But officers were well-known for having unit tailors sew them jaunty camo uniforms when they became fashionable.

Pic related is a bit unusual however, because it has a Heer panzer-man wearing a full blurred edge panzer suit. Which is bizarre because the SS was very protective of their camo patterns (to the point of copyrighting them)
so he either bartered or "found" enough fabric to have one made for him/a suit someone was issued. The only time I can think of when a non-SS unit got their hands on a large number of SS camo pieces was when the Hermann Göring Division made a trade with the newly formed 500th SS Parachute Battalion for their knochensacks.

This is actually correct. Google something like "WW2 horse usage," "WW2 logistics" or "WW2 mechanized units." Only the USA was entirely motorised, everyone else was using horses to some degree, trains or simply walking. WW2 wasn't nearly as "modern" as many people think the speed in movement was more a result of doctrinal changes to warfare than a heavy use of vehicles until later at least.

problem with minor axis countries is that they don't have a fetish culture of devoted Anglo fans, so the amount of material easily available is quite limited.

What I'm saying is that the Wehrmacht uniform for its time, even if the guys you just posted are not wearing properly fitted uniforms is the one with the most potential to look good based on how it is made. The US army unifrom, the Brit battledress and the soviet literal garbage all lack the facilities to have it fitted to the body in the form of a Waffenrock.
