Just got this. Not sure if it's worth keeping since the fit seems really shit. The torso and arms feel way too big. Does it look as bad as it feels, or is this jacket meant to fit like this?

Well I guess that's 500GBP wasted. I can't return it since the tax/ shipping/ restock fee would add up to about 250.
Is there anything that can be done to salvage this? Modify the sleeves somehow?

My chest is 39. This is size 38. The smallest size is 36. But even then, that would require sending it back (~250 wasted) then buying another one (500).

You can try taking it to a few tailors and asking for their advice, but whether one of them can even work with leather to begin with is really up to luck.
By the way, you need a lot more than to just modify the sleeves for it to fit you. That jacket is just all around way too fucking big, from the shoulder width to the total length, it's a complete disaster. Honestly the only real solution if you desperately want to wear it as is would be to bulk the fuck up for a year or two and become a literal bear.

There are a number of things wrong with this, you seem to be a basedboy with no really upper body to you so you must have mistakenly ordered a medium or a large, a small would have fit you better, or you were so used to ordering things from YSL or one of those designer houses that almost exclusively makes clothes for smallboys and nolifts so you thought it would be the same as a real menswear clothing shop, if this was the intended fit, it does not work. Why would you gamble that much money on something that you didn't properly understand the fit for? measuring tape costs like 8 dollars for a three pack on amazon.

But actually, it would probably fit OP pretty fucking damn great if it were worn-in and thrashed to hell. The leather would have a much different quality, and the fit would be a lot different as a result. Leather jackets ALWAYS look a bit geeky when brand new, and sadly, OP isn't a pilot stationed in the South Pacific during WWII. If he were, he'd have a couple years to tarnish and fuck up his jacket and give it a bunch of character before he came home. In my considered opinion, OP's jacket is fucking killer, and probably made extremely well of high quality materials, too.. I don't know what to say, OP. If you wanna brave it out for awhile, I would definitely keep it and really break it in well. I mean beat the living shit out of it Jump in the sea and come back out wearing it 'til it dries on your body - shit like that. If you break it in severely enough, that jacket will mold to you in a very good way.

Might look better if you wore it unzipped/unbuttoned and layered it with an actual autumn/winter fit instead of this autistic mannequin shit you've got going on.

If you actually rode a bike and dressed for that it'd look better also, but I doubt you do so you'll just look like some nerd trying to act tough.

Definitely would look better with some patches and embellishments too, as it is it's very plain and while the material might be good it looks like it's made from the seats in my mom's van at the moment.

>> No.13361137

Another reason to go for second-hand leather - if it was made before 1970 it probably wasn't made with fatass boomer proportions in mind.

>> No.13361299

I got in contact with the company and they said I could exchange it for a 36, and that way I wouldn't need to repay the $150 import tax or cost of a new jacket. Just the shipping.
They said that the reason it's so bulky is that it's for military authenticity, and that pilots would usually layer sweaters under it and still have freedom of movement. Is this true or bullshit?
If the 36 is still too small I also read about how people can shrink jackets by soaking them and then putting them in the dryer. Does this work? I'm not too concerned with the lining not shrinking at a different rate because I'm pretty good at tailoring my clothes due to an abnormal physique.

it looks good, you look imposing.
dont get so obsessed with how it "looks", how does it actually feel? it looks roomy and comfortable, and looks warm, since it is covering alot of your body. Think of it in functional terms, not pointless "Fashion" terms, and "Fit" obsessiveness.

Functionally, that is a great jacket for you to keep your warm in the winter, you could probably layer a couple sweaters underneath it also, to make t even warmer, if you live somewhere cold. Just wear it, and stop obsessing about "fits". It's a Jacket, it's supposed to keep your warm, it isn't a cotton under shirt, or a pair of shorts.

>dont get so obsessed with how it "looks", how does it actually feel?

The two are not mutually exclusively. You can have things that look good and feel great. And things that fit properly generally feel much better than things that don't.

>Think of it in functional terms

Looking good is a function. Do you think you would have the same life looking like the elephant man as you would if you looked like Brad Pitt?

I have a jacket that's almost as big, but with a fur collar. Instead of the U.S. Air Force A-2, it is the U.S. Navy G-1 flight jacket. It hardly gets much wear, these days, especially since I bought another one that fits better, but it is the biggest for me that I would consider "wearable" without looking ridiculous, in my opinion. You might benefit from putting that jacket in a washing machine, and then in a dryer, like I did. My jacket slimmed slightly, but not particularly much. I think the least favorable aspect of your jacket would be the too-long sleeves, which could shrink in the washer and dryer.
