24" is a great length for a chain if you are 5'9+ male. Sits right in the middle of your chest. Another plus is you can put it right over your head if you don't have a lot of hair, instead of using the clasp. I wouldn't go shorter than 20" for male unless you are going for that choker look

to revise my initial post, i'd reccomend silver, but the metal more depends on your skin tone//personal preference.

i think silver (or like platinum if u richer) is more universal and slightly less flashy, and in my personal opinion, less flashy is always better for male jewlery. especially if ur just starting out with necklaces, dont want something big and gold making you more self-conscious.

it's a sneaky sexy accessory. i also look better shirtless//shirt open with a chain on

I've been thinking a bit about getting one lately. Do chains usually look unusual without charms? I can't think of anything I'd want on it but I wouldn't want a thick chain, and usually it's only the thick ones without any.

ths is most likely the jewelers name, 10k means its 10 out of 24 parts gold and its in that hollow shape to save on gold so it cost less to make. Easy way to find out if its real is go to a pawn shop and ask them to test it, they will usually do it for free

I am 5'11" and all of these chains would look the next size up on me, as in a 20" on me looks like the 18" in that image, he must be a smaller guy. Something to keep in mind, a little height difference makes a fair bit of difference in the length needed. I wear a 22" 4mm gold chain daily but I am selling it, It is a bit long for the look I want, I prefer wearing a chain under a shirt with a couple of undone buttons, and the 22" is a bit too long to show without opening a lot of buttons
