they used eta 2824-2 the -2 means they were regulated to a certain level within the swiss ETA brand's internal standards from the factory

swiss eta also sells unregulated rough cut in decorated 2824's to put into fashion watches like burberry's higher end watches that some counter feiters use

The dial is beautiful. The lume is crap. Unfortunately the case is stainless steel and it has the finishing of a crappy chef's knife. The back also has an ugly QR code. no you wouldn't so shut the fuck up

>> No.13327403

>>13327334
of course not, you dumb fuck, that's not how the rolex market works.

a 2010 sub would be a last year 16610 (I'm assuming you're talking about 5 digits, because if we are talking 116610 you're just dumb).

A 2010 16610 today is at that point where it's only going down in price, and it will go down the depreciation curve for a few years, so unless we are talking NOS or kermit, it's in the limbo, It doesn't go up.

After that, it will become more and more sought after, and prices will start to rise, we are seeing that happen with pretty much all steel or gold zenith daytonas, 16550 exp2's and the 16800/168000 subs that were forgotten for a few years.

After that, when they enter the same territory (age wise) of 5513's and 1680's It's just more and more money everytime you wear it.

So, you buy a couple of 6-7k watches and stash them for a few years, you won't loose much or any money at all if you want to sell it early, but If you wait enough, you will in fact make 100% profit on those.

Sure, It's not like buying gold for 30% of market price, but for people in the watch community and into buying and selling it is an investment, matter of fact you could wear your 2010 sub for 20-30 years and get a brand new one + a little bit of cash.

so the 6k you spent on a fucking diver watch from a has been watch brand (google rolex influence baselworld because it's fucking insignificant)

your "investment" is trash

also risk is heavy every scratch on the soft ass stainless steel case ((stainless steel isn't hardenable) is a good 3% off the top

well, I never said you could make more money with watches, there's obviously better/quicker ways to make money.

No, rolex is very fucking relevant, it has always been, baselworld or no baselworld, you can't destroy that, people gladly pay over retail for their "new" (1-2yrs old) releases, they also pay retail prices for 20 year old watches with patina'd (fucked) dials.

Also, you're just proving me you don't know shit about the vintage market.
No ones cares about the scratches, people like unpolished watches, but not necessarily NOS ones, just sharp pieces.

Why would you sell back to an AD?
Makes no sense, it's like selling your old car to a dealer, they obviously won't give you a good price for it, nobody sells their vintage watches to rolex, NOBODY.

No, rolex doesn't recommend services every 2 years, their movements are reliable enough to work for 30 years without any problems lol, certified technicians and specialists in general say 5 to 7 years, and no one cares if they were serviced at the RSC, what country do you live in?

Nickel is a common allergen so avoid anything plated in it. Stainless steel is effectively inert to your body, and you could try titanium - it's well known for being biocompatible, or a NATO strap (these cover the back of the watch, so there's no metal contact). There's a chance it isn't a reaction with the metal/leather and more just the act of the watch slipping around and rubbing your skin that irritates you, in which case I am not a dermatologist.

Any half-decent steel watch will be 316L stainless which is low-nickel and pretty neutral for allergies. But if even just leather straps irritate your skin then I don't really know what to tell you. I've heard of painting the bottom of the watch with clear nail polish to create a barrier, but I don't know how well that works. It sounds like maybe it's just the friction that bothers you rather than the contact with any specific material, so I don't know how you can minimize that.

I'll also second what >>13332938 said about titanium and nato straps, those might be options too.

There's literally no advantage with mechanical watches. Never feel like your watch is inferior because it's quartz.

Am I the only one who simply thinks that Rolex is just too much "Rolex"? While I know quite well that Rolex is also pure quality, the brand itself makes it look tasteless in a way. I think it has something to do with the fact that it's the go-to smug watch. Like, if someone want to look rich or want an expensive watch, they just automatically think "Rolex".
