How does /fa/ feel about polo shirts?
Specifically slim fit plain polos with small logos, not that obnoxious 'preppy' shit with big logos and color schemes.

I bought my first polo not too long ago and I love the fit and the fabric. It accentuates my muscles.

Say you are fit, how do you feel about polo’s then?
Many people seem to hate them for various reasons

Depends what/how you wear them but here in the US at least theyre almost exclusively middle aged dadcore attire. I'd only really wear them if you're really fit, or layered with something

Yeah on the continent they’re associated with hooligans or super skinny lower class white teens

I'm pretty buff and lean but still self conscious about wearing polos, got a fit pic by any chance?

>> No.13304099

they're pretty nice, but the image association is pretty fucking bad because of
>styleless dads
>frat shits
>people who are out of shape
imo if you're even mildly fit, they can look very flattering

this. too many people improperly wearing polos thinking they’re “fancy” and well dressed.

Saw a guy wearing one recently in a business casual setting. He was also wearing sneakers. He was fit so it wasn't like, embarrassing but I also wondered why, when he could've thrown on a pair of derby shoes and a better shirt and it would've been a lot more fitting for the dress code

I always associated polo shirts with a poor sense of taste and culture, not a big fan of traditional collar forms being stripped of their consummating button placket extensions for a premature alternative on casual t-shirt forms. It's kind of a democratized dress shirt and get out of jail free card for the lazy person

It's okay. I am curious though why so many people share your opinion. I was never allowed to wear polos as a kid too because my mother hated them.

Because of aesthetically better alternatives which by no accident and as a consequence are associated with a greater sense of taste and culture

What these guys said. I automatically think you are a chav or some white trash that thinks he is dressing fancy if I see you wearing a Fred Perry polo

I always think of shitty retail jobs, "business casual" middle managers and man children who think anything with a collar = dressing up.

You know when you go to the country side there are people who want to be more sophisticated so they wear a polo shirt and post a pictures watching whatever sports and drinking wine? That's what i meant with "upper class".

every time i'm in the mall i unironically think lacoste store has the best overall aesthetic
unfortunately in america you just cant pull it off because polos/etc read entirely as either souless suburban dad core or "do you know who my father is?"-core
