Also, I'm pretty sure there is no limit to how much you can spray on. Even with the worst performers, I'll still get a headache from more than 3 sprays. Gph ii, I can do >10 easily and it'll still be a skin scent in 2 hrs

Ignore the hate, it's a fantastic fragrance, near perfect scent for daily wear, but in my opinion is best suited to casual outings in summer (day or night). I have yet to meet anyone who dislikes it, performance is decent, and I especially appreciate the creative use of tonka to give a creamy texture to an otherwise fresh fragrance. It's worth a cop if you're looking for a summer casual scent, or just a very versatile frag that everyone will love.

Go with something cheap and soapy/clean. You really don't want strong sillage and projection in a gym cologne because you will piss people off. Nautica Voyage or Cologne by Thierry Mugler is good since their price points are so low. You're gonna spray it on, work out, then shower after so wearing expensive fragrances is a waste for the gym imo.

I think it's a waste to wear frags at the gym, even as someone who loves frags I normally can't stand smelling someone's scent while working out and I think most people feel this way. But if you must, go with something light, clean, and subtle, like Mugler Cologne as already mentioned or maybe Molecule 01 or 02.

Lalique fragrances have a definite house structure. This goes for some of their Bentley line as well, from those I've smelled. Bentley Absolute could definitely pass as an Encre Noire flanker, but probably sells better under its current brand.

Whilst many argue that ultramale is a female scent, just the fact that a guy wears it make girls forget the feminine characteristics and stick to the overall quality of the scent. Perfumery branded as "female" is overall worse than male and unisex perfumery tbqh. And that's something that people agree subconsciously, you can see it by comparing that love/hate ratios on fragrantica. That happens because floral and sweet notes are often hard for the general public to really love. It's also why gourmand and floral fragrances are so hard to get done right. If you're going to smell like a girl, go for niche fragrances and pick up non-conventional unisex and feminine scents, you don't want to smell like j'adore, Chloé, angel, LVEB and other awful designer fragrances

Oud Minerale is the most underrated of the TF Private Collection ouds though. A lot of the time it feels like I'm the only one that thinks it's the best of them. TO is great though, prefer it to OW which I had and sold cause it was shit on my skin and the longevity was dubious. Might get TO later in the year when it gets cooler again if I'm still as satisfied as the first time I gave it a proper wear from a shop decant. There's a real lack of great darker, richer tobacco frags that aren't overkill like Burberry London or combined with sweeter notes like Jazz Club or Pure Havane.

I for one appreciate Ann Gottlieb's creations for Axe/Lynx, especially Africa (an oriental in the vein of Paloma Picasso's Minotaure and Biagiotti's Rome, beautifully done) and Dark Temptation (a daring masculine gourmand in its time, very much in line with contemporary trends now). Brut Original (the definitive classic male fougere) and Musk (a surprisingly unisex-leaning musky tobacco floral) are very nice oldies, too.

It's not Encre Noire/Eros/Sauvage/Allure/YSL/whatever designer /frag/ keeps repeating over and over again. Your question was already pretty much answered, they're well-known in the fragrance community but outside they don't have much traction.

I love the story behind the house and the unique scents, but just can't get behind packaging/concept which is a deal-breaker for me. Maybe I'll get a sample/decant in the future but there are too many ahead of it on the list.

I pretty much blind bought Armaf Club De Nuit Intense, Vetiver Guerlain, and Nautica Voyage all for around $60. I'm also waiting for 26 samples ranging from 1ml vials to 5ml sprayers. Hopefully I didn't fuck up TOO badly. The scents were reviewed well on Basenotes and Fragrantica, were cheap, and fit into different seasons for wear. I think the non samples I bought are actually safe choices.

I could have explained better, I'm planning on wearing the same fragrance while I work out and then reapply it afterwards, to go home. Where I live is usually between 75 and 95 degrees anyway. I thought about VPH because it's inexpensive enough and doesn't last long, although it seems to have decent projection. I think the same applies to Mugler Cologne and Nautica Voyage, which were recommended by some of you.

I've got Armaf Club De Nuit Intense and it's one of my favorites. I think it's a good approximation of Aventus, but definitely different. The pineapple notes really make Aventus unique imo, and Club De Nuit Intense just doesn't have that. It's still very good for its own reasons, though.

You can easily get a nice smelling cologne for 50 bucks. The watch analogy is kind of a miss because some the better options for those types of situations I like are in that price range. For professional settings, the thing I look for most is how well blended it is. I like to smell "good" not like lemons.

Some of my favorite cheaper frags that are just fine for those situations are
Hanae mori him (nice cinnamon, wood, and tea notes)
Burberry London (similar, hard to go wrong with)
Terre D Hermes (orange, woods, vetiver. Tends to be a staple in this category)
Dg pour homme (tobacco and orange)
Guerlain vetiver isn't a bad choice either

None of these are remotely bad frags and all great for a professional environment, but aren't super premium either. Dates and going out frags are even more versatile, and there are TONS of good cheaper options. (I like pure malt). Stop this meme
