Clip on suspenders are gaudy. Besides, suspenders have never been a fashion, historically. The whole point was their utility, and when worn with a suit, they'd usually be hidden under the waist coat. If you want to wear suspenders invest in some proper bespoke trousers with suspender loops attached.
