I just grabbed some of these, I really like them but the right one hurts my heel i can't really wear them if I'm out of the house more than an hour or two

Here's my sneakers, the plain standard Ultraboosts and the Powerphases are seeing the most use at the moment.

Got the Neighborhood Inikis recently, I missed their initial release but when I visited a local sneaker shop a week later they still had my size in all of the models except the NMD, hah. I think the Iniki is the best looking of the Neighborhood collaboration models but it doesn't feel as comfortable as the UBs and NMDs do.

Thanks anon, I was kind of thinking the same with the SNS over the oxford tans. I like the Reigning Champs although I think they're just a tad bit too "subtle" imo. It's not that I like loud shoes but I just want to get something a bit more interesting desu. NMD had a crazy first year. I'd say just about all the colorways and models from that period range from acceptable to really good. I'd say the "og" even has that "iconic" air about it, and we'll probably see retros down the line.

I'm definitely an early(ish) adopter who's since jumped ship, like most people, it seems. I do like that Adidas pitched the shoe as "lifestyle" out the gate, with convenient travel and walking around the city being the primary theme. Honestly, UB is a mediocre running shoe, and anyone who says there's a huge difference in function between nmd and UB is kidding themselves, so I like that Adidas was at least up front about the NMD's (Moderate) functionality. It was also a nice compromise that flirted with the tech ninja look without going full sith lord. And ya, there was a degree of exclusivity that was appealing early on, as pairs were obtainable, but not sitting in malls or whatever. In short, it was "cool" to be into them for awhile.

Then...three stripes just lost the plot. The R2 was a nightmarish tumor shoe with literally not one good colorway (see op for reference, and keep in mind that's one of the better colors). Then I swear Adidas intentionally made new R1 models uglier to push people into the R2, which of course led to pairs sitting, which of course killed that illusion of exclusivity... Like, as gay as it sounds, it almost felt like a betrayal.

Meanwhile, the ol workhorse ultraboost model just played the slow and steady game while resale numbers on Yeezys became reasonable, leaving the once "cool kid" NMD neither here nor there. Plus with "ChUnKy DaD sHoEs" being so "in" lately, the whole sleek, futuristic boost aesthetic in general is looking a little dated.

Tl;dr, it's an easy shoe to pick on right now, but there are some deep cut bangers in the mix.

Pic related embodies everything adidas did wrong with the nmd this past year, and will serve as the nmd's tombstone. RIP in peace.
