hey fellas i need some tips on how to do goth style in a more relaxed, everyday manner

i dont mean goth ninja, i typically do a more 80s/leather/almost punk kind of thing, but the problem is when I actually try to dress decently i look like fucking Neo

Basically I need tips on how to tone it down a little

see, i think there is a specific way people often end up transitioning from edgelord to a more "casual goth" thing these days, and it could work for any gender. really its just sorta neutral chic clothes in dark colors. maybe you indulge in the occasional band shirt, or combat boots, or a couple piercings and tats. but for the most part it's kind of a subdued version of the art ho/mac demarco look. anyway thats just what i see as an east coast college student, feel free 2 disregard

Get a pair of Docs or McRae combat boots. Get some jeans that are actually black and have a bit more stacking going on (G-Star is acceptable for this). Get a good dressy topcoat that fits properly, imparts an X-shaped silhouette, and terminates no lower than your knees (Allsaints does okay for a gothic casual look, but I'd reccomend shopping around elsewhere beforehand). And it needs to be a good topcoat, not one of those ninjacore chinashit cosplayer jackets you see in facebook ads.
And be sure to wear nice linen blend T-shirts with lots of rippling textures for that handcrafted gothic appeal.
