Jaw osteotomy is intense as fuck. Healing is brutal, very painful, an barely eat, and it's hard to ignore the fact that your mouth was taken apart and put back together. Anterior segmental osteotomy is less intense than double jaw, but they're both pretty bad.

I had this procedure done a couple of years ago. Used to have a massive overbite because my lower jaw was so far backwards into my neck. Also wasn't able to smile without my teeth going over my lower lip.
The recovery was a real bitch. Mouth wired shut for a month, no feeling in my lower jaw (permanent nerve damage in a small spot above my chin), and eating through a straw. Swelling went down after two months.
It was so fucking worth it.

If you deficient in your chin or jaw i would really recommend getting implants. Its so worth it.

If you are rich and just want to enhance yourself then I would still recommend it. Just note that jaw implants are in a much more complicated area for surgery.

If you are getting it for girls you really need to realise that you will not be successful with women unless you actually practice. My chin was quite deficient yet I was still going out day and night meeting girls so I know its possible even if you dont look too good.

I've since had my chin impant ($6000 AUD) for more then a year now. And I have to say, my results with women have improved a lot, but I'm more inclined to say its my skills that improved rather then my chin. After all, you literally cant see the difference from the chin unless you look at my face from the side. But what about the confidence from the chin? That definitely helped.

If you are looking for a confidence boost its definitely a huge one. But the bottom line is if you want women, you need take some action, get good and meet the women you want.

Can't feel your chin or your lower jaw for a while. When the procedure is done, they break your jaw to correct any alignment issues, and then they cut your jaw, move it forward, and put metal screws in to hold it in place until the bone fully heals. I really feel bad for those who go under cosmetic surgery for the sake of aesthetics.
I understand the need for any health concerns or if your physical body/face is limiting you from living a 'normal', functioning life, but to distort your own original beauty is disheartening and I feel for those who don't have the confidence to just own what they have. Perhaps I may be a different story as I've been with a girl for many years who has supported me through my downs of self-image related concerns and I've now realized that there are more important things to focus on.
Maybe those who need these temporary fixes need a support system that I may have? I am by no means a 9/10, probably not even an 8, but I can sit here in confidence that I know where I am placed in life in terms of my physical appearance. Could surgery be a solution to shifting yourself on this scale? Sure. But is it satisfactory to your inner-self as to where you've started and where you've ended up? I won't go full /fit/, but starting out skinny with not a shred of visible muscle, to working hard and knowing your goals and following through, to getting a somewhat closer body-goal that you want- isn't that more rewarding?
Maybe I'm over-analyzing this and I should fuck off entirely. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I have mixed feelings on plastic surgery.

On the one hand, I feel like changing your looks so much that you look like someone else (or worse, entering uncanny valley territory) seems weird and somewhat dishonest.

On the other hand, most people have at least a couple of flaws that even a relatively minor adjustment could fix, and provide a subtle but significant improvement in their appearance, without changing the essential character of their face/body. It's sort of looking more like the ideal you - the you a good picture of you captures. To me that's not such a bad thing, and to that end I've considered it myself to correct some flaws I have.
