I picked up 100 ml of pic related from fragrancenet for $11. Fragrantica reviews called it a Bleu de Chanel EdT clone with decent performance. I'm typically suspicious of store scents, and I'm very critical of clones, but I copped it because who can resist the allure of a $10 bottle of Bleu?

My bottle was listed as a tester and arrived in a plain white box but came with a spray cap. First good sign - the bottom of the bottle is imprinted "Puig SA". So it's made by a large and reputable fragrance manufacturer. Next good sign - projection is immediately noticeable and reminiscent of Bleu within seconds. This fresh bottle isn't 100 percent exactly like my half-empty and mature 5 ounce bottle of Bleu, but it's definitely recognizable and it is in the same category performance wise as well.

Today is only my second wearing of Aim High, but I'm enthusiastic about my find. Try adding a bottle on to a fragnet order if you need to hit the 60 dollar free shipping mark.

I went to the store and bought La nuit and ultra male clone.

Now I ask myself, is it even worth spending over $100 on fragrances when Zara can just make exact or similar clone of it for $10?

Within reason, yes. It's always worth sampling the nicer stuff to make your own conclusions (buy decants and go to sephora) but it's sorta dependent on clone quality and fragrance.

Like with Creed, I can't tell the difference between pineapple vintage and aventus right down to longevity. And I know some people swear by CDMNI as an even cheaper clone. But since Zara is, well, zara... I think sampling it couldn't hurt.

And from one poor boy to another, take your time. This shit lasts a long time, and there are tons of good fragrances that aren't clones. Look at Hanae Mori him and HM. Cheap and smell awesome. Burberry London is also a favorite (and frankly what stops me from buying HIM)

Well, they’re really not the same or even particularly close, honestly. The important question, though, is are they close enough for you? If you’re satisfied with them, by all means, why spend more?

For me, personally, they don’t smell close enough, there is a very noticeable gulf in quality. They’re not necessarily bad, but not up to the standards I’m used to.

I just bit the bullet and got myself a bell jar of MKK last week at Palais Royale. It was worth it. Besides the oft talked about musky warm glow of skin, there's a rich, powdered tapestry of warmed roses behind a veil of slightly salty dried sweat. I wish it had a more powerful projection though.

The frag that got me started on this whole journey. It was love at first smell. Wore it for the first time in years today! What a coincidence.

I really enjoy it, I just wish the longevity and projection would be a bit better. First few minutes smell a lot more alluring than the drydown. But very versatile scent that could be worn in all weather, day and night.

I don't think it's feminine at all. Not one bit. I'd venture to say it's rather masculine with its pepper and immortelle. And there is nothing I've found that's similar enough for me to warrant buying instead.

If you like 1 Million, just get a small bottle to wear at home. Don’t let other people not liking something dissuade you from enjoying it for yourself. Just keep it as an at home thing for yourself.

Really, though, the issue isn’t the popularity, as has been pointed out many times here before, most normies don’t wear fragrances regularly and they certainly can’t pick out specific scents someone is wearing. The problem is that 1 Million, specifically, is pretty obnoxious. Amsterdam hookerfag said several of the girls he saw specifically said they hate when dudes come in wearing 1 Million because it stinks up the room all day and the smell sticks to them.

I post my top ten most worn here regularly, but that's a bit different from my favorite scents. If I had to narrow my collection down to ten bottles, I'd choose (in no particular order):

Dior Patchouli Imperial
Bond no 9 Scent of Peace fH
Bond no 9 B9
Bond no 9 New York Oud
Parfums Vintage Pineapple Vintage Intense
Mancera Gold Intensitive Aoud
Bleu de Chanel EdT
ScentStory FZE 24 Gold Oud
YSL Mon Paris EdP
Creed Royal Oud

I especially love patchouli and oud, as well as Aventus-likes and "blue" style designer scents. Projection and longevity are super important to me, and these are all very strong performing scents (Bleu being the weakest, but it still lasts a full work day for me).

The next ten (for breadth / variety) would probably go something like:

Dunhill Icon
Mancera Cedrat Boise
Montale Patchouli Leaves
Bond no 9 New York Patchouli
Juliette Has a Gun Another Oud
Rasasi La Yuqawam pH
Chanel Platinum Egoiste
Ralph Lauren Purple Label
Guerlain Vetiver

I'm older, so I've been wearing fragrance since the 90's. But I took ~10 years off because of a live-in girlfriend who didn't like when I wore scents. So, I've only been working on this collection for about 3 years now. It leans heavily towards the modern (~2010 and later) era because I felt burned by early purchases of current formulation Fahrenheit and Ck Be, which smell nothing like they did in the 90's. That's part of why I haven't really dug into the Guerlain classics. Even when I blind bought another Guerlain recently, it was Habit Rouge l'Eau rather than the OG version. I don't have any experience with a lot of the older formulations of Guerlain, but my recent experience with L'Instant was extremely positive. Nice cacao notes that never overpower anything else in the fragrance despite being present the whole way, so the wood, citrus, and that signature patch dry down.

>If I could afford it, this would be what I wore everyday. A deliciously crisp tuberose brightened and kept from being too sweet by eucalyptus, it's a versatile scent that is gorgeously attractive on a man. Casual enough to be worn everyday, but would certainly turn heads at the poshest white tie events. Can be worn day or night, in the coldest winter or most sweltering tropics. Smells like a perfect gentleman exuding the exquisitness of youth.

Songe d'un bois d'ete
>Incredibly sensual scent that made me fall in love with it in seconds. Who that hath fallen in love, loved not at first sight? Seductive, dripping with cardamom, oud done in a French manner and amber. No other choice for a date night/intimate getaway. Everytime I put it on myself I swear my nose is glued to my wrist wherever I go.

>Ultimate dress to impress, smells like a million dollars in a bespoke Savile Row suit scent. Dark, dripping thick boozy sandalwood brimming with spicy molten embers. What does /frag/ think of perfumeries? I had the chance to go to an Egyptian perfumery a few months ago. They're protected by the council of antiquities and not allowed to export - you can only get them out of the country by purchasing amounts for personal use.

I thought it was a ton of fun. Kinda wish I had more time in the perfumery so I could have had a custom blend made. There were thousands upon thousands of bottles of extracted oils sitting on shelves.
