Living the dream, man. This would slip right into the subconscious over your average joe, who would recognize design elements, proportions and pieces as vaguely familiar, yet still manage to throw him into light cognitive dissonance on account of how you've used the fit as a whole to frame the pieces that comprise it into something they've never seen yet somehow remember quite clearly.
For me that's key to a lot of futurism in aesthetic movements and science as a whole - you change the way you're making use of what already exists, recombining unintended theories, ideals or pieces. This practice is what gives us, over time, new eras in technology, art and design.

Nice.

Holy fucking shit are you even a real person? I can't take your irony

Listen kiddo, everything you consider academia outside of hard science is a circle jerk using big words, plain and simple, and the "intelligentsia" you clearly aspire to join is antithetic to true science. Case in point, talking about race realism got Watson (discoverer of DNA) thrown out of Science™.

If the loquacious nature of the paradigm present within my post exceeds the typical boundaries of your pre conceived notions of the post modern axiom of academia yadayada no one talks like this you sprig.

OI! he fucking started with the fedoralord shit, like thinking about outfits as a cultural text is something shameful. I'm sorry, but i can't help the way I've been educated and the way I've learned to explain essentially vague shit to the people I work with and for.

I wasn't trying to patronize either, bru - I'm honestly surprised that discussing symbols, cultural touchpoints and the collective unconscious is frowned upon, on a fashion board.

To me lunarcore doesnt really have a "function" most of it is usually casual everydaywear that your typical sci-fi citizen or rogue would wear, and uniforms that space/scifi mega companies give their employees

The entire idea of tech is revolved around "fubctionality" or at least that's what they hide behind as an excuse to dress likes futuristic ninja

Lunarcore TO ME, is much more casual and open ended, like Psuedo said, you can make almost anything look lunarcore if it's presented right, and in the right context with the right materials and presentation

The goal of lunarcore is essentially to look like an extra in the background of a StarWars cantina, or a crew member from ALIEN essentially, or at least starting from there anyway..

Also Psuedo, you have any recs for winter boots with a lunar feel? I've been wearing my $30 aliexpress SFB's and they get cold as fuck here in Canada, been thinking of getting a leather pampa hi tactical? Or a cheap Af1 SF rep?

Pampa High, as the good gentleman from Moscow has mentioned. I always wanted pic related, I shoulda bought that shit when I could. Some of the new ACG stuff from nike is waterproofed, I wear my Y3 Warriors in winter time or rain. Them strappy Nike boots we've seen would prolly work. Nike Field Generals work, but the construction doesn't feel up to the punishment a hard winter can lay out.

The problem with a lot of sneakers is that the motion of your foot swinging forward pools water in the grooves of the sole and eventually up onto your toes. Toeboxes shaped like AF-1s can do this, as can Supras - your feet will be soaked in 10 minutes or less. at the same time, Supra makes a rubberized lambskin version of a lot of its shoes that takes a beating and handles snow pretty well. I like their minimal branding and height, personally.

But your options are a lot less limited than you might think - you can get clear, hydrophobic aerosol sprays at home depot now, and that stuff can just make a lot of kicks, even those with fabric or mesh uppers shoes like palladiums or Adidas' tubular series, pretty much winterized.

DIY goes a long way with this stuff.

That's pretty unisex, IMO. Swap out the head scarf for a "sniper hood", tho.

You ever seen one of those? it's like, a scarf that's actually a hood, so operators can just use it as needed in urban situations, tucking its ends into their shirt collar. I have a cheap one, but the design can be simply a three or two panel hood in non reflective grey or something. I've considered hitting up the "Tech Fabrics" section of a store in the garment district (mood fabrics) and getting a few yards of something grey & a few of something green or white, then having my tailor (who thinks I'm a weirdo but low-key loves all the strange requests) make me a three paneled, reversible sniper's hood. I'ma waterproof one side. maybe put some grommets in the bottom corners, weigh the whole thing down and connect its end via cheap light carabiners under my outer layer.

In any case, professional models look like pic related.

>>12880952
Properly executed, I believe that one of Lunarcore's primary functionalities is how it telegraphs competency and confidence without getting too martial about things. What I was trying to get at in my autism post was the underlying familiarity of so many of these pieces.

The recognizable aspect of many pieces means people don't react the same way as to, say, overblown techwear. Which looks kinda mall ninja in many settings, namely those filled with normies.

You want to skirt that line, while projecting your little nonverbal narrative with symbols and pieces most people can readily identify.

What are the materials?

Cotton can be stretched a bit if clamped in place when wet, but undoing the hem and have a fake hem attached to the end of the unfolded original hem is a common service with most tailors and will grant you an extra inch on inseam.

It happens! Pic related is Abercrombie, and it has asjustable waist, vecro and Zipper closures on all pockets and elastic drawstring cuffs with those little spring loaded press-to-open doohickeys on the angles. The pockets kind of expand outwards when full and the nature of the cuffs makes the pant easy to twist around your legs in opposing directions, creating a nice line of sight that highlights your kicks. Easy af to debrand, and I got em on sale, for 60 bucks or maybe less, it's been a bit.

I guess the lesson is to never overlook a potential source of new and even quality pieces by assuming that store or that thrift "ain't gonna have shit". You never know.

Fedoralords aside, creative professionals really engage in that sort of discourse. It was pretty much ground into me both in college and cringe speak was a genuine necessity with, say, a streetwear label or a record label - IF you wanted your contractors to do the job right. If you had a specific vision in mind that you really needed to stick with.

A lot of women's pant have either tiny pockets or none at all. I've known girls who cut pockets out of their pants, even - to keep the visual line of the fabric and the skin's contours unbroken.

That guy, I forget his name, he did all that shit for victorinox then went solo, making the parachute coats and all those lunar grail items will never even get to see up close, I FORGET HIS NAME

TLDR - He did this shit with mesh over contrasting colors of fabric via superposition of two textiles. First it was used with backpacks and in color blocked areas on various bombers.

One day he drops a women's flight jacket, black, with white lace atop every inch of the coat except its edges (i.e. sleeves, neck and waist ribbing). A really clever take on his own style, which looks phenomenal when done with a good pair of muted yet contrasting colors.

I imagine it requires the trial and error mastery of some sorta unique method for getting those two separate textiles to drape and move with one another in the sort of unison you'd expect from a single layer of cloth.

lmao am i making you think outside the box? I know this can be hard for an autist but try it. Here is a hint: it's meant as an inspiration and mood setter not an actual proposed fit.

It seems your vision of lunarcore is just milsurp sci fi rogue, ala rogue one cosplay. Perhaps you should come up with a name for it and start your own general? I mean here in this classic infographic we have orange and gold in the mood board colors. Lunarcores main inspiration is actual astronauts NASA and the near future visions of the 70s and 80s. Not the fantasy sci fi action shit you are posting. nothing from that picture says lunarcore to me. Lunarcore isn't space military it is space trucker like Alien or space mechanics miners etc like outland.

It's not the end all be all of lunarcore

And you talk about yellow and gold being part of the mood boards as if they make up their own sub, but they don't, in fact all the "yellow" and "gold" That's in the mood board at least, is just khaki/dark sand colors, and like I said even if you like shiny gold in your lunar, in GENERAL any color regardless of what kind it is, Is USUALLY not always, muted/unsaturated colors.
And yes milspo is a sub genre/style of lunarcore, wtf do you call Space Marines?

To my diyguys: What's the best approach to getting this dirty/used look on white and grey garments? This piece is worn leather, but I'd like to attempt it on something cotton probably.

>> No.12886038

You could paint it with a light grey dye, concentrating on the seams and edges where it would get the most wear/dirt.

Reverse those two. White breaker, olive beanie. Keep in mind pants color is a consideration that could affect the answer you decide upon.

Whoops, forgot about that flight suit. I think orange is to be used sparingly and not in large blocks, but that's just my opinion.

If go as far as saying to just forget about the orange, and just stick with the earth tones

My everyday fit I eventually want to have is going to be a fitted olive flight suit tied at the waist, with sand/grey/black field boots or mono sneakers, and a sand/grey/white/black t-shirt and maybe a collared vest when I feel like it Idk..

This is a fit you can wear everyday when you can't decide what to wear

>Also it's hard to find fitted tied up jumpsuit inspo that aren't high heeled wymon..

Not the Anon who started this conversation, but I've got a flight suit that needs to be tailored/fitted. I've never done a project like this before, should I get a cheap pair of pants somewhere to practice with first, just go for it and let the roughness be part of the charm, or take them somewhere? If I outsource it, what would be a reasonable price to pay for the service?

If you have a sewing machine try doing it yourself, just follow YouTube tutorials on making baggy pants more fitted and apply that to the suit, the question ends up, do you want to leave the baggyness in the torso for a more V shape or have it fitted as well?

Handsewing will take forever, unless you dont mind, like itd be something you could do while watching Netflix like how girls knit and watch tv

If you want it done asap then take it to a tailor and tell them how you want it to fit, and if you have a pair of skinny jeans or whatever that you REALLY like the fit of, give them to the tailor for reference for the fit you want in the legs, also when I got a pair of dress pants tailored before I had a sewing machine i went to a tailor shop in a mall and they charged around $15-$20 for a simple hem job, so depending on how complex the project is and if you do or don't have a sewing machine sometimes it's better to try it yourself or take it to a professional

Alternately you can always check out local pawn shops/ thrift shops/ craigslist/ kijiji/ online garage sales, etc. For cheap sewing machines.

I found a fairly newish SINGER sewing machine that's normally around $150 for $30 last yr, so you never know! And if you find a sewing machine for less than $100 BUY IT, like I said most sewing machines usually start at $100 and keep going up..

Hm, thanks for the thoughtful response. I guess I'll take it up as a longer term side project for now, but I hit up local second hand shops pretty regularly so I'll definitely keep an eye open for a machine when I'm there.

Professional seamstress here to give you my two cents. Getting something like a flight suit tailored should be fairly simple, since flight suits themselves are mostly just simple rectangles. In my shop it wouldn't cost you more than ~$25.

If you want to DIY put it on inside out and get a friend to pin it as close to your body as you want. Make sure it's still comfy and you can move in it. Then just stitch it down along the pin line.

Also, modern Singers are complete garbage. Either get the cheapest new sewing machine you can find or do what other anon said and pick one up second hand. Actually, if you can find an older model (1980s or older) Singer that would be ideal.
