depends on the area that you get it on.
I got one just above my ankle yesterday and it was my most painful yet, while getting one on my triceps didn't hurt at all, in fact, I fell asleep during that one.

In general, the thicker the line, the more pain, since the artist then uses more needles simultaneously.

I'm thinking of getting one tattoo representing each day of the creation, for example the sun on my shoulder and the moon and stars in my arm in negative space for day 4. In my forearm i'd do the sky, sea, land and vegetation completing a firmament sleeve and days 2 and 3. In my belly i'd probably do a fish and a bird for day 5 and Adam, or Adam and Eve, somewhere with an animal. What i don't know is how i'd do day 1 or 7. Thoughts on how to do it and on the theme as a whole?

depends on area and your sensibility. my first one was an 8 hour session on my lower leg. Shin hurts like shit, rest of the leg is okay. Pain varied between like 4/10 to 8/10. Extremely painful areas are ones with many nerve endings or ones with a bone right underneath it.

There's no predicting. So much depends on the artists technique and what inks they use. If you have friends with tats that have aged well, try using their artists, and be open to the fact that you might need touch-ups. It's hard to go by shop portfolios alone, since those photos are always taken fresh.

Also, it's normal for tattoos to fade and colors to lose brilliance, but serious blurring is a sign of not getting the ink to the right depth. Black tattoos generally age better. A lot of the colors out there right now are really new, and we don't actually know what they'll look like in ten or twenty years.

I need some honest opinions on this potential tattoo, it would be my first and most likely only tattoo.

I have a pretty similar body to this guy, thin/lean with pale skin but with one main difference, I have a good amount of chest hair that I have no intention of shaving regularly. Would a tattoo like this look bad with chest hair?

I don't think I'd have luck looking like a pretty boy but I could pull off the otter look. I swim and run a ton and I'm trying to get back to my peak condition at which point I weighed 135lbs at 5'10".

I'd like to get a tattoo that covers my chest, mostly the clavicles and sternum, and need ideas. I thought that one looked pretty good. But again, I've got some chest hair, not a huge amount but definitely noticeable and I don't want to shave it. Got any other ideas for me?

Depends of people, the tattoo guy and the area. Mine is on the whole chest, we spent 4.5 hours and we need to finish it (I think it will take 4 hours more). Nipple was strange but not painful, the top of chest (near the bottom of neck) is awful but more because of the position I was. Sides were horribleI felt all my ribcage buzzing, sternum is painful too.

Also pain is harder after the breaks, the 4 hours were okay the last 30 minutes were horrible as we took a long break and I was starting to be dehydrated.

It's my first one and the guys in the tattoo shop were laughing at first that I can't keep it for 4 hours, after 3 hours they told me that I was enduring the pain pretty good. Also I'm skinny so less fat and less space to cover which helps the process.

I saw a 16 years old girls being tattooed on the feet and she was almos sleeping, and I saw a big tall guy being tattooed a small piece on his breast and he started crying and ask to stop after 30 minutes.

I'll say pain is related to yourself your state of mind and how you want it. Bring a big bottle of water with you and something to eat.
