I got 3 main colonges i use.
le homme de caron - for work and stuff
terre de hermes - when i go out
and some a*man that i never wear cause I think it makes me smell like a candy shop.

my question is do i need to change anything up?
Should i buy some new scents?

>> No.12802677

>>12802672
terre d'hermes is really only appropriate as a work scent, I would replace it with something a bit more casual for going out

you could even try the eau tres fraiche version if you like that scent dna; it would still be more appropriate

Are there are any other frags that are as unforgiving towards overspraying (and spraying too close to the nose) as pic related?

Funny, the first two that popped in to my head were Santal 33 and Interlude Man, both featuring sandalwood. Of course there are plenty of sandalwood frags that aren't as nuclear, but maybe it's a certain aromachemical that hits that receptor in your nose that feels like it has weight.

Other 1-2 spray frags:
Opium
Rive Gauche pH
24 Gold
Chergui
Polo
Grey Flannel

But you can overapply just about anything if you put your mind to it.

Out of this, the ones I came to be interested the most were Chanel Bleu, Bvlgari Blv, and Terre d'Hermes.

Previously I've used Le Male, Prada Luna Rossa Extreme and Luna Rossa Sport. Since Extreme has ended production, and taking into account Sport is too summer-ish, I'm thinking about getting some Year-Rounder and own it for everyday usage.

What I want to know is, which one do you like the most? Which one do you think I'd like the most taking my previous choices in consideration?

Aventus, of course, but Pineapple Vintage is much better value and I actually like it better than Aventus.

Blind bought Sauvage and The One here are my thoughts

Sauvage - pleasant seductive citrusy scent. undoubtedly an upgrade over the original eau sauvage. you can only smell it if your nose is 2 inches away from the spray site.

The One - warm and sweet I like the smell better but it fucking disappears after a minute whether you spray it on the skin or on cloth. zero projection.

I'm so disappointed. Why do modern colognes have zero projection. It makes it fucking useless. Can anyone recommend me daily GADA(go anywhere do anything) fragrances like above that you can actually smell?

Seconding L'eau d'Issey, have been using it for like seven years now, bought it as my first proper EdT and still keep coming back to it. Great performance for a fresh scent, very linear and affordable too. You can often get 125ml for like $50, so try and find a good sale or special offer, there's tons around.

Unfortunately it's gotten more popular (again) over the last few years, so not that unique anymore.

Also try Prada l'homme if you get the chance. It's a much more sophisticated scent, more floral with some amber and a wood note, airy and fresh without a citrus note. Unfortunately it has weaker performance than the Issey, but it's great for indoors situations and/or spring and summer. Probably not as good as a first fragrance due to the higher price and lower versatility, but it is one of the bet smelling designer fragrances in my opinion.

If you can, visit a department store and try a bunch of fragrances. Bulgari also have some affordable fresh EdTs you could try, but they're a bit more hit and miss

Can /fg/ recommend me an everyday frag that is neither boring or too offensive? ATM my daily is Prada l'Homme which smells nice and clean but doesn't do much for me.

The other frags in my collection smell great to me but IMO aren't suitable to wear everyday, at work etc..

I have tried pretty much every designer frag so would prefer niche, have also sampled all of Creed which i am not overly impressed with (have a 10ml of Aventus and bought Al Haramain which to me smells 95% the same).

TL;DR - Recommend me an everyday niche frag.

Depends on the occasion, the environment, the fragrance etc.

Generally the neck either at the front or the sides is a standard location. You can also spray your hair, especially if you have a longer hairstyle (or are a female, in which case definitely spray your hair). If its warm out and you're wearing light clothes, spray your chest. The body heat will make the fragrance really project. In colder weather and when wearing more clothing go for the upper chest or neck

You can spray your wrists, just remember that this will spread out the smell outside of your personal space, which can be in bad taste

You can also spray clothing, some fragrances last really long on clothes, others really don't. Definitely spray sweaters, hoodies and other "soft" clothes, women absolutely love it and it's also just really comfy. Knit sweaters especially that aren't washed often just smell really good after a while

Be aware not to overspray though, especially with very masculine, sweet or otherwise strong scents

Only adding my pasta since I saw more than one recommendation for front of neck. Oh and wrists get a lot of rubbing contact with pockets/desks, so I'd go for forearm for the added hair surface area bonus.

I do 2-5 sprays generally, depending on frag, atomizer, occasion, etc. Most frags 3-4 sprays. 1-2 on chest for nice wafts from under collar all day, 1 on back of neck, 1-2 on forearm(s). Avoid proximity to nose, i.e. face/front of neck, to prevent olfactory fatigue. Under clothing mutes projection. On hair/clothing holds on to top notes longer, but just a dusting as some frags stain some fabrics.

Best to test application in more casual situations and best to ask others about projection, rather than rely on your own nose. And always err on the side of caution if unsure in more important occasions.

Most well known is obviously Jeremy; for the most part he offers solid entry level advice and recommendations, although many here consider him absolutely pleb-tier. He's good for advice if you're a younger guy in a cosmopolitan environment and all you care about is how thots think you smell.

FragboyStewie is another fairly well-known and decent reviewer. Comes off as somewhat pretentious.

Redolescence has nice, structured reviews and is all around quite good. Offers quality recommendations knows a lot of fragrances.

Tripleinc is a younger guy who hasn't been active that long, but is quickly becoming one of the better reviewers. His earlier content had an annoying fratboy kinda vibe but he's gotten a lot better. Production quality is excellent.

FragranceApprentice also has amazing production quality, more niche-oriented than any of the other reviewers so-far mentioned. Videos are somewhat longer but he goes into great depth, discusses more than just the smell.

Brooklynfragrancelover is a faggot.

MrSmelly is funny and covers the fragrances he reviews very well, but his tastes lean more towards the mature market.

Max Forti is pretty good, though his tastes can also be somewhat mature.

Gentscents also has good reviews.

FragranceBros were pretty good until one of them left, now its just the less-likable of them doing reviews sometimes collaborating with other channels.

Dracdoc is meh.

That's all I got off the top of my head. All them have their own sort of style and they use fragrances to express that. Just because they recommend something doesn't automatically mean it will work great for you. Buy stuff you like, but also try and make sure it matches your style and personality, and find reviewers that you think match that style and personality and their recommendations will help you more. Hope that helps.

There are a ton of answers. Any more details though so as to narrow them down? You can get a 200ml bottle of YSL L'Homme for a good price online. Huh, never seen a two note search produce so few results. Not that I've tried to stump it. Anyway, never even heard of any of those. Pure Malt has a sweet malt whisky note that's worth checking out. currently using Tom Ford Anthracite or Tom Ford Grey Vetiver for work

Sometimes play around with Tom Ford Mandarino Di Amalfi on the weekends but it's not great

I bought a small Terre d'Hermes but it really failed to grow on me, I won't be using it again

TF Grey Vetiver is really the only fragrance thus far that owned me from the day I smelled it--it brought back memories of rainy days in Tokyo or NYC, of quiet mornings watching the gray sky out of a window while still in bed, of strolling through parks in the fall...

can anyone tell me what that smell is that makes cheap or "run-of-the-mill" fragrances all smell the same?

you know, that smell you get when you walk in a lower-end department store like Macy's perfume section, or the airport duty free store

not to offend anyone's favorite scents, but frags that give me this feeling include armani code, burberry london, that blue versace one that every store has, mont blanc legend, and spice bomb

These fragrances don't really use the same notes though, they really don't smell alike. Designer frags all have a very mainstream, inoffensive vibe to it, so maybe it's just lack of creativity or cheap ingredients as well as constantly copying other frags that makes them appear all the same

If he's really on turbo poorfag mode, he could get that one Cuba cheapie that smells like improved 1 Million and then bath himself in it every few hours to keep it from vanishing. Is buying fragrance at airports a scam?

>> No.12819241

>>12819070
True, though I have a few of those Cuba frags just for sleeping in, mostly, and they're honestly gone in like 30 minutes. You'd have to bring the bottle to da clubs and excuse yourself to go to the bathroom and reapply constantly. Plus, they don't smell as good as the originals. Honestly probably better value to just get a bottle of the real stuff for the amount of the Cuba stuff you'd go through.

Depends what airport. In Dubai or some places in Europe where people actually know their shit and buy high-quality stuff? no. Most other places? Maybe. They're probably just stocking department store-tier stuff anyway. Depending on their supplier, they might be getting some fake stuff.

Personally I feel like TdH can be relatively mild and is one of the most versatile colognes you can buy.
But if you feel otherwise and want something even more versatile and milder, maybe try Aventus like other anon said. It's definitely very masculine, but lighter and fresher than TdH, also smells very natural and unique. Would make for a great daily wear, whether wearing a t shirt or a suit.
Another good option is Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. It's a tonka bomb (but not super sweet) that's balanced out by some nice citruses. I had people tell me that it smells like a really nice hair or shower product, which can be good if you don't want to be the "cologne guy" but still want to smell good.
