I'm suprised no one mentioned the Orient Bambino, it's largely considered the best starter mechanical dress watch on the market. I'd suggest buying from Long Island Watches as the owner gets rid of any that show bad quality.

Seiko 5s are god tier cheap watches. Anything else for less than $200 is probably a quartz shitter.

You can spend less than $100 on a used Seiko 5 and purchase a quality leather strap separately for $30-$70
