What are some readily available wool surplus pants? Preferably bdu/field uniform style rather than dress uniform which are pretty easy to find in wool/viscose.

Pic related are Finnish, considering copping for this winter. There's a decent looking shirt that matches them too but it's a bit too explicitly military for my style.

>> No.12732820

>>12732809
Yeah it's definitely an interesting variation on the parka. I think the reason it hasn't been picked up in streetwear is that streetwear loves layering which means leaving jackets unzipped whenever possible. Just thinking about all the flecktarn parka hype from a few years ago, people often wore them unzipped over a hoodie. So having an interesting button system wouldn't mean much if you're leaving it open all the time

I Think more formal styles would work well. If you open two of the buttons and make the lapel bigger, you could have the shirt and tie showing, making it an interesting twist on the field jacket style. Alternatively, if you just want the top one open like in my pic, then scarves are a must. Perfect for the freikorp aesthetic from my last thread

I've got pic related and no use for the obscene number of pockets. I don't really have any sentiment about keeping the jacket authentic since it's common and cheap, but the pockets' stitching does seem really tight. Would removing them with a thread ripper leave any obvious marks, and would it be worth it in order to slim down the silhouette?

I'll try taking a picture of myself wearing it when I get home, but generally I'd say it looks sort of deflated with the pockets empty. I think I'm almost set on the Finnish pants. Definitely love the cargo pockets that make them look less like dress pants, and I prefer the color over the Swedish wool pants which have a bit of a green tinge rather than the blue tinge that the Finnish and Swiss lean towards.

I'm just not certain of what I'll wear them with if I'm not innawoods (besides the obvious austrian meme boots), what do you wear yours with?

>> No.12742142

>>12742115
>blue tinge that the Finnish and Swiss
The swiss are actually more blue, the finns are pretty much just grey. The swiss have a very beautiful colour.
I'm always in the woods (figuratively), so I wouldn't know, but the most casual look you'll get out of them is probably some baggy/layered fit that contrasts the anachronism of the trousers without something decidedly modern, such as a hoodie. A light grey turtleneck might also take off some of the militaristic edge. If you do go for darker colours, try to be more colourful than just black or dark blue. Those are the things I do, when trying to look more approachable. Personally, I'm not too worried about looking overly militaristic as it fits with my person. The only thing I try to avoid wearing in combination is the appropriate finnish army jacket, as that would be too soldierly. The swedish one (from 1949) is good though.
You won't have to worry though, these pants are one of the garments I get complimented on most often by "normies".

Thanks anon, not a huge fan of hoodies personally, but I've got some relatively colorful sweaters that would be nice I think. I'll give it another day or two of thought but I think I'm gonna just go for it; worst case scenario is I don't like the look but they're ridiculously practical.
