Here's where I disagree with this comment:

1. It's automatically making what OTHER people think the principal concern. Perhaps that poster just likes the look of Royal 1s himself, and that's why he wants them. Any framing of your style or fashion immediately in terms of other people's opinions is a red flag for me.

2. With Royal 1s particularly, it's not just about the colorway. To those of you who don't know, Royal 1s come in good quality leather, which can't be said for most Jordan 1 releases nowadays. Most Jordans now are made from a very cheap plasticky leather. With Royals, Shattered Backboards, etc. the leather is of a soft, supple variety that is better. In this regard with Royals you are in a sense getting what you're paying for with the higher price point. Royal 1s, along with some select other releases like Shattered Backboards, are objectively a superior product to what is usually offered in terms of sheer quality.

3. It's valuing affordability over what is wanted. Of course we always utilize a balancing act when it comes to what you want versus what you're willing to spend. You should tip the scale in favor of what you want. If you don't, this is how you become a zombie consumer. Take like a Zarafag vs. some guy who saves up, agonizes over it, and then finally cops a high end expensive piece that he wants. The latter guy will almost certainly hang on to his piece and have it for a long time and be pleased--it being what we wanted and it being expensive, required a lot of thought. The Zarafag on the other hand probably spend a similar amount of money as the other guy--for a wad of cheap clothes on his bed that quickly doesn't want anymore or regrets.

My point with this autism is that overly valuing affordability can be damning.
