Nah. They were made of more casual fabrics back then, allowing for daily use, and people were much more willing to out up with discomfort to not break social protocol, so men and women dressed more elaborately as the standard even when it was hot or impractical.

I dunno, people used to manage it fine, didn't they? You look at old picture of places like Australia and South Africa and sure enough, everyone's wearing a full, sometimes three-piece suit. I'm assume fabric had a lot to do with it.

Besides, something coming back into fashion doesn't mean it has to be an all year-round thing.
