hi /fa/ im a normie when it comes to everything so i need some assistance

ive been growing my hair out for around 8 months and its starting to get to a decent length i feel, my hair can get wavy and hard to deal with, but i really wanna get hair like pic related, but i dont wanna get a perm or something that can seriously damage my hair way down the line

a friend of mine told me i should use specialized shampoo, hair rollers and manually curl it and stuff but im not sure if everything she said would work the way id like it to

any help would be appreciated
