Alright mates, I got this jacket a while back as a gift (p sure it was bought in the 70s though) and I find it incredibly good. Built quality is solid as fuck, incredibly warm, perfect for rain / winter etc.

Now english isn't my main language. I want to know if I am to buy another jacket like this one what terms would I use ? How do you call a leather bomber with similar padding (which imo is what makes it so warm and comfortable, I sleep in the damn thing on trips up north), and what are some brands that could make the best jackets like this one ? (Price isn't a problem)

Thanks in advance !

I will give you my INEXPERT take on this. Please take it with a grain of salt.

So, bomber jackets used to be made in more natural things like leather, sheepskin, wool etc.
Then the jet age came along and they wanted to use artificial materials because they would not freeze so they started making them out of quilted nylon stuffed with wool and polyester.

So what you want is a leather jacket with a quilted nylon lining. I'm not sure how common it is for those two things to go together.

The B-15 flight jacket may have come like that because I think they sort of went between the "leather era" and the "nylon era."

A few companies you can look at:
Aero Leather
Eastman Leather
Buzz Rickson

Thank you so much for the comprehensive answer !
Yeah it's quite the old school item and is lambskin + cotton. I'll definitely look into what you suggested !
Do you reckon that modern flight jackets are as warm or do they not need that anymore ? Cause I know back then that pilots in high altitude during WW2 were freezing their dicks off and things definitely changed since the days off wool lined sheepskin jackets

I have no idea about the jackets they use today.

Alpha Industries say their MA-1 jacket is comfortable down to about -3.8c/25f. I would believe it.
I think they phased out the MA-1 in the 70s in favour of nomex jackets.

If you look at something like pic related I'd imagine you can get well under -3.8c wearing it.

To be fair it's been on my radar for a while and 140$ is p. cheap. I'll probably get one pretty soon, even without the utility it definitely looks nice !
