Just wear them with chinos though, or as an undershirt to a suit. Don't wear them with dressier pants or God forbid a tie, the highest level they can be work is usually business casual.

The weave of the fabric. The threads alternate every two threads instead every one. The result is very smooth and crisp giving it a dressier appearance, but it tends to be a little heavier/thicker than other weaves. Not sure what OP is upset about.
